I love the idea of a super lightweight terrycloth sport coat in the summer. I don’t know if I would wear it in the city, but throwing it on after getting out of the pool instead or drying off with a towel seems so cool.

You know.. I’m on the fence about terrycloth in the summer. It’s almost like women wearing scarves in the summer.
Fashionable yes, by no means practical.

This is irrefutable proof that there is a world of difference between a beach towel shaped like a sport coat and a sport coat made out of a beach towel. One is loads of fun and the other is just embarrassing. On a positive note, I do like the color.

I love the texture and colour and the way it’s being worn here. It’s a fine example of ingoring the fabric’s original intentions as a cuddly wearable towel, and embracing its other qualities. Cute older bloke!

Too fluffy, too bath robe-y, too unstructured and sloppy. Looks way too hot for summer as well. I really want this to work, but it’s just not. Maybe if it was actually ON instead of just on his shoulders? Maybe it needs long pants, perhaps white?

I agree with you, I wouldn’t wear it in the city, but by the beach or at the pool would be perfect. I actually have something similar to it with a matching pair of terri cloth shorts, which I wear to the beach.

I agree with you, I’m not sure I would wear it in the city but it does seem like a great alternative to the typical poolside coverup over your trunks or as a blazer alternative to a night time pool party. I can’t wait for your special edition collection to arrive, I’ve got mine on pre-order.

First let me say, it is really fantastic what you have done with this blog…. That being said, there is a gentleman you have shot a couple times, who always looks very cool. The last time it was the terry cloth sport coat, who is this man? I’m guessing he is in the fashion world in Milan by the fact in the pic which was titled ” The perfect casual shirt” he had a Missoni invite.
If you can answer, great…. If not, keep up the good work…

August 11, 2012 at 7:27 pm
sadly i too have to disagree with his look it. its ridiculous. the jacket is ok, sure, whatever, but hes trying to make it work in a formal sense and its just silly and a total eye roll. if he wanted something fuzzy and fun, go prada. if he was wearing a swimsuit and on the beach…cool, i guess. he tried.

what a great idea and great usage of a material! men definitely do not have to have a super 150 or so wool suit in order to look complete, a terrycloth makes it as well:) and the bermuda is so old school-love the way he pus themt both together!
