This is definitely the kind of outfit where I would like to hear what you like about it. Clearly she has style, and there is thought put into this look, but it’s difficult to understand.

What do you find appealing about this look?

    March 27, 2012 at 9:21 am

Incredible layering – great contrasts – thrown together with all the best possible details of the current trends, who could ask for more…. !?

I don’t understand this look at all. The coat looks like a straight Jacket. Kudos to her for having the confidence to wear it though.

I have to agree with Natasha, I do not find it beautiful. Yes, she IS different; yes, she IS brave. And that’s all.

I am not sure, not sure at all. The hat reminds me of Nicolae Ceausescu, the former Romanian dictator. The shoes remind me of ska bands in the UK in the 80′s. The coat reminds me of Japanese fashion, in the early 80′s too. The combination does not work for me.

Wow that coat. Wow. So japanese modern cool, the kind you see on a runway show and ask “yeah, but who has the balls to wear that”.
Everything is all future eastern european austere up top then boom pow surprise little burgundy socks and spectators. BOLD.

She reminds me of Isabella Rossellini, who I think is one of the most stilish and serene woman right now.

I found this photo more and more interesting as I scrolled down. I love her qaraqul, and I really love her shade of lipstick, and I like that she is a fully grown up woman with a strong personal style. Her cape is very intriguing. The socks and shoes are unexpected. They add a pop.

  40. LOVE!

The coat looks like it could be a really nice coat but looks fastened up wrong, however not with those shoes and socks! She has a lovely face ,maybe she went out not expecting to be photographed and just grabbed the nearest thing from the coat stand like I do sometimes.

She is brave to wear this outfit – love the shoes, however. This style looks like the wearer has a very chaotic mind, dare I say! ^_^

This image captures her strength and poise beautifully – I adore the hat!

Interesting look, and I admire her confidence. I kinda expect a baby to poke it’s head out from the folds of her draped coat, little too papoose looking for my liking…

  55. Eva

    March 27, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Love the coat and style but those shoes with socks and bare legs are a little bit too much for me…

I must say I fall into the thread that finds the outfit confusing. It is bold and original, but I would call it eccentric rather than beautiful.

I agree with FLAM’s British ska reference: This is Madness of the funkiest order. I particularly like the color of the socks–ox blood.

I love this – but I am partial to baggy clothing. After all, I became conscious of the fashion world when Mary-Kate and Ashley were rising to fashionista fame. Also she’s perfectly dressed for this weather.

Lets give thanks for the brave faces at the frontline of fashion and individualism. Trail blazing is never comfortable. The fact that people both love and hate this look is exactly what you want from cutting edge. To be loved all round is to be too MOR, too conservative…. I’d love to see more of this woman.

Some stylistas are eccentric in a precious, performative, attention-seeking kind of way. Others are eccentric in a delightfully (and often quietly) happy-with-themselves kind of way. She strikes me as the latter.

Ok, I do not think I am adding to the discussion but I agree with Natasha, this is an edgy, bold and interesting look but I do not find it stylish.

The lady knows how to wear lipstick though!

this site, the choices, …becoming less about style and more about fashion… victims.
where are the people wearing original clothes that actually originate, in themselves.
there is nothing lovely in this woman except, her actual self. which she determines to cover in awful disguise and distraction.
her choice but why choose to present it here as sartorially noteworthy?

Bless the people who have called this Interesting.
    it isn’t. in my view.

She is wonderful. Such Fabulous Style, the shoes alone are portrait worthy.

    March 28, 2012 at 4:45 pm

What do you mean original clothes?
None of us wear original clothes. It’s how we put them together that defines us.
You can’t deny her look is interesting and thats always what I’m inspired by

    March 29, 2012 at 1:37 am

This is exquisite, out of another time. A rare beauty, think Europe meets Russia 1940′s to present! The touch of color, the expression on the beautiful woman’s face, feels like a clever heroine’s in a novel. I love it!

You know, you can get away with this camera on the street stuff in Paris. I don’t think it’s working as well here. I see a lot of Salvation Army purchases. Try Newark.

  93. Jayne

    March 30, 2012 at 7:39 am

I think she is a beautiful woman but the outfit screamed bag lady with a twist at first. There is something in her attitude that makes it work.

  94. elaine

    March 30, 2012 at 5:31 pm

I really like the way the colour of her lipstick, socks and hat lift this outfit and transform it.

  95. Rhodesian Ridgeback

    April 1, 2012 at 11:47 pm

Of course everything works. She has layers, and nothing is hanging loose in such a way that she can’t be grabbed by the wrist and swung to the back of the saddle of a passing gallant. Of course, the shoes must be visible to prevent any one offending her toes. Toes are ten extra brains. Respect them as you would the paws of your dog, or the hooves of your horse. She has clear passage.

I don’t know why everyone drools over some of these photos, especially the NY style… I dunno, I think this lady looks like a bag lady. No style there.

I love the way she combines serveral shades of grey with the burgundy socks and the chequered print on the shoes. But what caught especially my attention is the coat kind of thing. To me it is very interesting to see how it is made and fixed to the body. I like it more when peaple wear something that shows some extravancy even if it is exagerated.
