I’m here in Kiev, Ukraine at the moment and I know Ukrianians wear lots of fur in the winter to keep warm. I see that two of these photos have girls wearing fur coats—in New York. I was curious, how is fur recieved, in general, in the US? I bought a couple fox fur hats here in Ukraine and was wondering how that would be perceived in the US?
honestly??? not well.
I inherited fur very chic fur hats from my great Aunt and I have to be very conscientious of where I wear them.
I had one person scoff at me and call me ‘unethical’ upon entering a college bar once. ( it was cold..and the closest place i could find for a quick drink).
SO you can wear them..you just have to be mindful of the venue.
agreed. i inherited a fox fur scarf from my mom which i stopped myself from wearing and i live in montreal. i don’t buy any fur myself but sometimes i wonder, if i inherit it/buy a vintage one and it keeps me warm, it’s not so wrong to wear it instead of using more resources from the world no?
just some thoughts. i would like to hear what others think.
I’d agree. 2nd hand is one of the most ethical ways of clothing. On the other hand the people judging you don’t know that and it could inspire people to wear new fur. Also leather is nearly as bad and nobody would stop you in the street to tell you how unethical you are.
“A snowy day in NY town”….
Despite the fact that I feel bad for the people up north, these pictures are beautiful. I hope these ladies are going to find a roaring log fire where ever they are going ! Hopeless romantic, I am.
the only one who looks good it the woman in the middle who is fashion and prepared. nothing says fabulous like being properly dressed for the occasion!
The expression of the woman in the first photo is so very beautiful. Looks as though she’s praying. I could see her in the stained glass of a cathedral, or in a religious painting.
In Germany it’s also snowing, I like it more than rain, but enough is enough for this winter! The shoes are wonderful, exactly the kind I like for me to…
Precip, imo, requires higher-tech, at the very least to not look completely, uncomfortably, ridiculously fashion-foolish. At least have a micro umbrella.

Nice winter post …like the fact you added the snow shots here.
Shot some streetstyle in the snow myself this weekend in Amsterdam, which I’ll be posting at my blog soon. Was great …until it snowed really heavy.
You did a good job ..lik the second one. Monochrome which enhances the facial expression and atmosphere.
