The modesty panel on the tights! That is a innovation to be grateful for. I can’t think of a smarter addition to women’s clothing since pantyhose themselves.
I’m going to describe this as “fairy tale chic.” I like it, but the shoulders still remind me of Snow White, or something. I’d hate it if it weren’t all black. It definitely takes a bold personality to wear that. I appreciate it.
I’d love to see the top and pants worn with a slouchy cardigan–not necessarily black. Each item (coat, top, pants) calls so much attention to itself that the ensemble doesn’t cohere–though I like each piece.
I agree with anna on this! people are always following the rules and most of all not being themselves. But with this brave soul, she dares to be different. She does like the commercial and lives above the influence
From the waist down, I like it. The shoulders don’t do it for me, and the exposed mid-riff doesn’t really fit with the layers and boots, or well, at all actually. I never liked the exposed midriff look (except at the beach), even when it was very much the thing (when was that. . .late 90s? Early Aughts? I guess I’ve blocked it out.) Cute boots and leggings and skirt, though. That’s a look I might copy!
I love the tights and booties, but i think the shoulders and midriff are a terrible choice. she’s a very brave soul though! props to her. I’m hopeful to know what the rest of her wardrobe looks like.
I love everything but wouldn’t dare wear the coat, it’s really nice and looks great..on HER. I find it too costumey for the street, esp. for daytime. Just wondering though, was there anything special going on when this photo was taken (besides Paris fashion week)? Or was this really one of her “everyday”outfits?
“people are always following the rules and most of all not being themselves”
That’s more than a little presumptuous. Just because someone doesn’t want to look like a walking art exhibit does not mean that s/he isn’t being him/herself.
I love the outfit apart from the exposed tummy (too 90s! too soon!), and I wonder where she’s going.
I love how it’s hard to tell what’s going on with this outfit because everything’s black, the pants(trousers) have got an interesting panel at the front and the jacket is unusually structured. It’s obviously a very complex, thought-out outfit, but she somehow manages to make it look very underkey and normal which is clever.
Ooh, how I love puffy sleeves, and this gorgeous girl takes it to a whole new level, so theatrical! I might crack out my overly puffed sleeve Costume National blazer, inspired by her fearlessness :)
Yeah, it's slightly "costumey" but I love it. She works it. I don't care if it's 9 a.m. She is a breath of fresh air. The sexy evil stepmother in an S&M fairy tale. She punish me any time.
I would wear everything she's got on but not all together. I really love the jacket in all its drama. The tights are so unique and crazy. I'm not sure about the top because I don't know what it is but it's not likely I'd wear it and bare my navel around town.
I dig her hair and her nails and her great profile.
I know the story behind her pants :D I’ve seen them as jeans before. I believe they’re inspired by the sillohette created by wearing stockings and a skirt together, and margiela intended to re-create this sillohette in 1 garment. Its a beautiful touch, but I think that the pants would be much more appreciated in a subtle, understated look.
Now if only he could merge shoes and socks together…that would be a timesaver
Definitely not Irina. I wonder how long it will be until the exposed midriff makes a full-fledged comeback. I was never a fan, but I’m always interested to see who will take the risk.
I love it so much I won’t even hate. Instead I’ll congratulate. That is the chic-est look I’ve seen on this blog in while. Uhm, I’ll love anyone who can tell me who on earth made those leggings with the tummy panel skirt thing.
No one would look at her twice in Paris. That’s what makes her so brilliant, well and Paris too. Unfortunately the mass conservativists in NYC wouldn’t dig this very much. She’s probably Carine Roitfeld’s assistant. Or she should be. She’s brilliant because she just is.
I don’t see costumy at all, I see freakin couture! I love this look. Not everyone could pull this off, but I think she looks really edgy – in the good way!

a little costume like though
This shows a look above a person. If she is not a designer then who is she……
the shoulders are merely secondary in this look.
That says a lot.
