Although I'd personally pair this with a different bag/shoes, she is SO adorable in her little white dress and socks! And definitely a different look to see on here – although I appreciate the unexpected!
I love a teenager dressed as such… no make up, no tatoos, no goth anything, just pure innocent beauty. Love the whole photo, the leaves in the sidewalk, the old houses… the sense of permanency, an image of what life should be, simple.
Looks a bit like classic, old chic because of the dress and the shoes with socks, wouldn't be there the backpack which takes the whole outfit back in the 21. century…
As the picture loaded I knew she'd have some link to japanese lolita fashion! lol at pointing out her bag choice, it's just a backpack because she's a student… not a fashion statement.
Great shot Scott. The leaves on the ground signaling fall, the sweet white dress dispelling the age old rumor, "No white after Labor Day." See everyone, it's OKAY to wear white in the fall!
What a great photo. This photo is a nice middle finger to those "anonymous" commenters who accuse you of only photographing editors. Kudos to you for mixing it up. Love it.
I love all of your southern shots. Savannah and the awesome people who live there are especially lovely as made evident in this picture. But you should come to Charleston too!
We sometimes comment that a girl has dressed too old for her age. In this case, as she is presumably a college student (SCAD), she seems to have dressed way too young for her age. She looks like a sixth grader. It's mostly due to the shoes and socks.
Personally I feel like she's trying to be too cute. I'd rather she bring in some extra element to make it not look so… childish. I have seen 6 year olds wear the exact same thing.
Reminds me of my days back at art school. With artsy students though, it's hard to tell if the look they have is a purposeful personal statement …or not. I really like this one though.
Double track response. She looks refreshingly fresh, but I (seriously) worry about the sociological implications of girls dressing too young, or too old, for their age. Alas, short comments don't allow a full and pondered exchange of thoughts on this complex topic. –Love the shot of Savannah, though, thanks. Have wanted to visit the city since reading "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."
This look could be saccherine, but her stance and confidence suggest that there's steel under that lace and that she's working the Lolita look consciously and with a bit of irony. Very cool. Beautiful photo, too–while I love the fashion, half the reason I come to this site is the beautiful photos themselves.
Great photo! Come by the Ballastone Inn this afternoon for tea. We are in the heart of the historic district in Savannah and you are likely to get a few great pics in this area… We are a big fan of your blog and love that you are in our beautiful city!
The little 3 1/2 year old I nanny for immediately said "She is SO pretty. She has a flower in her hair and is wearing such a pretty dress." You know you've got something when a child breaks out of their little world to notice you!! Gorgeous.
this is a very cute outfit! love it. you should take pictures of college students more. SCAD is a good school and all, but i go to MICA and it's awesome! come to baltimore some time, i promise, MICA students make some of the most interesting style choices i've ever seen. =)
Isn't it intersting how It's fashionable for a woman to wear socks, even with sandals, but it's fashionable for a man to wear not socks, even in leather dress shoes and his poor feet will get blisters and STINK so bad. Either way, everyone is making a statement with socks, or lack there of.
Beautiful little girl. That dress is so south. Who makes it? So nice a crisp! ANd the shows with socks! She's got the look down! Please check out photos from Paris Fashion Week's homage to the Burka, or something like it http://bit.ly/cAKiY9
Amazingly beautiful I love this mix of the old and new, the simplicity of the dress and the shoes with the socks and then the unexpected back pack. The backdrop is gorgeous.
I'm just as struck by the photo as I am by the dress and model. I love the lace dress and shoes. Perfect cut on the dress and the shoes are made for a dress like that.
SCAD stands for the Savannah College of Art and Design. It's an art school in Savannah, Georgia. She's cute, but please come back to Savannah. There is so much potential for great pictures here!
The texture in this photo is gorgeous: sheer burnout white dress, the white of the turned Southern balustrade, chunky black shoes and backpack, the crunchy leaves and weathered brick, the filigree of the trees. I also love the way she's standing…she looks strong. There's great inspiration around this creative academic atmosphere!
