Besides the fact that her bag is bigger than her (which is a bit endearing, isn’t it?) I love this look. She looks great especially for a rainy day! Her accessories really make the outfit.

These are the kind of photos that make you feel glad. Beautiful color in the shoes and bag against the cool cement. Very foxy.

I like this narrow silhouette. Initially, I reacted to the red bag as being too big, but then I decided it was a cool proportion. I like that it’s so giant, juxtaposed with her dainty red shoes.

The voluminous scarf is a nice counterpoint to all that narrow black and the punctuation of the red.

that’s another red bag I really love! I should buy one!

The skinny jeans look is nailed here. She looks confident and comfortable.

I never understand all the big bag hating. What’s not to love about a big bag? Especially one as gorgeous and beautifully worn as this one.

I know that girl, as beautiful as she is, she’s even more beautiful on the inside!

I don’t know what’s wrong with me (maybe there isn’t after all…), but I don’t like high heels! Her feet look sore, and her legs would look equally nice in a pair of flats.

Ho, hum. I wholeheartedly agree with anon 1:57 – this is the most overdone combo around (even down to the way she’s tied her scarf). The bag is cute, yes – the shoes nice too. But even here in not-always-fashion-forward Toronto, I’ve seen this exact look a million times.

I spent summer 2006 in Amsterdam and I remember they were many shiny, sunny, gorgeus days! Oh, Amsterdam! What a great place it is!

I think she looks good, but not apropiate with the weather… Any shots of people in a rainy day who look nice, but yet, practical?

her jeans fit her well…i don’t personally think skinny jeans will ever be “out”…they’re just one of those things that are more popular at one point and then something else becomes more dominant…but they’re still always there in the background, waiting for someone to start the trend again in a new way

plus wide leg pants aren’t that practical for me, i’m 5 feet tall, i’ll always love my skinnies

I find it somewhat hard to look hot in rainy or winter clothes.. but she looks the part..

I like the outfit. It is not an androgynous look, but it is similar in tone–simple, polished, put together–to the way some men dress. The scarf and sunglasses complete the outfit and who knows, weather can change.

Now, she looks gorgeous!

it’s cute, but her feet are probably cold, and such beautiful shoes will probably take a real beating in the rain, unless she doesn’t actually need to walk anywhere. i speak from experience… having almost ruined some favorite fabric-covered heels. even with off-and-on rain, you can’t control uneven pavement and puddles. i’m trying to stick to boots nowadays.

i love this look! i realize it’s not fashion forward, but i think i would be uncomfortable/made fun of if i wear some of the stuff you post because as much as i love it, it’s too edgy and would not work on a daily basis for a small-ish town like the one i live in. this kind of look is cute and fashionable without drawing too much attention. thanks!

After viewing this image yesterday I was inspired to wear my heels (work shoes) home last night. Hopping off the bus and turning down my street I realized I wouldn’t want to wear my really nice shoes in the rain! Sure she looked great but those pretty shoes won’t last! Of course, she could be a “cab-girl” like I used to be when I first arrived in Gotham! I love my shoes, love, and will sacrifice the “look” for the duration of the journey to take care of them. Besides, there are some really fun and stylish “walking” shoes to buy. Half the fun of living here is walking!

Mm, I especially love how she’s taken a run of the mill scarf and arranged it so that it appears to have an almost feather-like texture. She’s taken ordinary and turned it into something unique, so that, at a glance, you can’t quite put your finger on what sets her apart..

i’m not gonna read all the comments because i’m lazy, but i just don’t get why ppl seem to think big bags are odd. Bags should be the size you NEED them to be so that you can carry whatever you need to carry. I feel like the Big bag “trend” is old already. It’s just really practical for gals that need to be out all day for instance. And they can look really good (like any size of bag) if well designed.
The girl in the picture looks apropriate and she’s a beautiful girl. Not too good not bad either. Just so for everyday life.

To pres10514, I could fit a dozen fold-up umbrellas in that bag. That’s the magic of huge bags; they fit all the regulars plus umbrellas, a cardigan/sweater, a pair of flat shoes, a water bottle and lunch, books/magazines/work/laptop, hats and a small evening clutch, jewellery and top to change into. Oh and gym gear of course. A big bag takes the impossible out of being dressed well when there’s four seasons in one day and makes the wearer look tiny!
God, I do love this bag so much.
The look may have been done over a thousand times so more but this is such a perfect example of what every woman is striving for [yet not achieving]. I’m very impressed by her understated elegance. She doesn’t look like she’s trying hard to be noticed and fashion-forward but she’s just lovely as she is.
And those shoes! I noticed them in a magazine last year I think… maybe longer ago. They’re so perfect. Crochet I think?

Yes for the lovely big bag! I bought into the stupid little purse idea for a while, but I am done with it. Honestly, bags are not for show only! Most of us have a lot stuff that we like to carry with us! I have folders, and a book to read, and sometimes my laptop or even a spare pair of flats if I wear heels. I like big bags, and I like how they look. I have no idea what people are thinking sometimes. I guess maybe there are some people of leisure who need only their credit card and sun glasses or whatever, but not normal women. And only a chimp brain carries an envelope tote. How totally uncomfortable to have to hold something in your hand every minute.

She epitomizes the kind of New Yorker I wanted to become when I was a little girl.
