That’s a sleek looking gentleman.
I like how the pin on his lapel matches the pattern on his pants – do you think there’s any chance, that was done intentionally?
oh, wow. One of my favorite portraits of a man I’ve seen on the site. The photo flawlessly captures the rugged handsomeness of his face. As for the outfit, it’s so clean and interesting and just perfect. I love your passion for men’s fashion.
White and brown are very elegant together but the pants look like knit pajamas. Too bad.
I’ve seen this handsome man on your blog a few times, I think.
The statement pants steal the show, but there’s actually a lot going on here. The thing that strikes me is that unusual color of brown on the jacket. It’s got a blueish hue in it, like a “dark taupe” or something. Then he paired it with that thin, crisp polo, which is encouraging. Really casualized the whole look. I’d love to know what kind of shoes he paired with those trousers.
Normally men past a certain age look really naff wearing “fashionable” clothes like those trousers, but this guy nails it. He brings to mind a Renaissance prince in casual wear. Being really fit helps, but it’s the cut and colour of the jacket which makes it work. Doubtless both the jacket and the trousers were made for him. Classical yet up to date. Parfait!
Hooray, images to inspire blokes in matters sartorial. Thanks! Please take more. I’ve been worried men have been letting the side down as you’ve posted fewer and fewer.
Like the jacket, the shirt’s OK, but the pants are too feminine. Glib and trivializing as well–particularly on a guy as old as he appears to be . He needs a shave, too. Five day growth of beard + gray hair = homeless person. Leave the beard to your twenty year old son who can pull it off, and turn the pants over to your teenage daughter.
Gorgeous natural “model”, as always, but I cannot help stare at the rich smooth background, the city, an character in each and everyone of your photos. Great choices, great technique.
He just inspired me for my Saturday night outfit! With high-heel sandals I can get a perfectly femenine look as I have similar trousers and never thought about wearing them with polo shirts.
Very nice. I would have liked a clearer look at what pocket square he is wearing with those trousers though.
Meanwhile, here in London, we are bracing ourselves for a few more days of rain. I want thesartorialist.com to devote a few days to imaginative summer rainwear, for the benefit of we rain-cursed Brits.
Really “easy, clean, nice to watch” outfit
I’m from florence , so like everybody here i’m in the Pitti Uomo moode. That could be a reason of want to being men ;-)
One thing – we have like 35 C now here in Florence and I really admire all of this ppl wearing jackets, long pant etc….
To commentator Patrick: would you say that to Brunello Cuccinelli? I, too, don’t like beards but he wears it well. Also, he is not old…..just very mature and sophisticated. Lastly, brown is the new black for the summer of 2012….get with the program, gentlemen.
Heart stopping. What a dream. He looks like he enjoys life. I notice so many comments here about others not liking his hair. I love everything!. As for his do he’s causal. It’s the ‘He’s rolled out of his lover’s bed’ look.
Beautiful man.
The trousers do nothing for me and they have diverted attention from a superb jacket. I suspect it’s bespoke, but the more you look the more great detail you can see; stitching, cuff buttons’ positioning and outstanding fit. Excellent style.
I don’t know a lot of men who can make this work. He made it effortlessly easy- polo-t, khaki jacket and PRINTED PANTS! Italian men and their styles.. Lurve ‘em.
In response to Ray Ray: The exemplary Brunello Cuccinelli and the extraordinary garments his company makes are the exception to every rule I’d ever made or be inclined to make, including the superiority of two-button jackets to those with three buttons, and the absurdity of pants with pockets that will never be used. I’ve even been heard to say that in a parallel life I’d be more than happy to be Mr Cuccinelli.
My man recently got a few pairs of pants like this but its been hard to blend such material pattern with the rest of the outfit. I really like how two colours on top match the fine print colours in the pants.
Never mind the pants (although they are great!); look at the perfect fit of the blazer and the lovely details: pick stitching, working cuff buttons and 2/3 roll
