wow!!! what a great capture, he looks so relaxed and cheeky. and the clothes just create such interest. i watched your doco "visual life", i've watched it a few times and i can't tell you what an amazing thing it was to hear that my not-yet-placed creativity is not lost, and is actually where you begun and in a sense still live. i love that you think of it as a freedom to not have a specific art that you linger in. really you inspired me and showed me something i have struggled with for a long time. so thanks!
ohhhhooouu…wow!!:-) actually I have to tell you yesterday I saw such a stylish man in street in Prague, that I was sooo happy..he was so perfect to Sarto. greeting from Czech
This is soo inspiring!! I think this is my third comment in your blog but I have been visiting for quite sometime, I just realized that i have only left comments in guy's pics and I didn't do it on purpose. I think it's because it's more usual to see beautiful and stylish women in general. Even when I love the girl's pics I'm lazy and don't comment but with awesome man's pictures i get so lifted upon my feet. I guess I just love to see a man with a great different style who owns it! I wish there were more of those around where i live, in the meantime I do my sightseeing in your blog!!**cheers
absolutely LOVE this man's style. this is the kind of style that i seek. totally unique. completely singular and independant of any trend. roll on. xoxo
You take very interesting pictures! Care to tell me which camera and lens you use? There is a beautiful softness to so many of your pics. Adobe LR3 as sw?
This could so easily look messy (in a bad way) or kooky-in-a-contrived-way, but the guy has enough of a gentleman's gait to pull it off. He looks accidentally suave.
Ah, I love this photo. I can even imagine he is a great crafty person. ^^ The patch work on the little matching tartan bow, the vest, the jacket, and even the key holder "D", doulbe alyer of jean shirt and jean blazer! I don't know any man would pull off that look but himself then.
Wow, I love the beard with the hat! Even more, however, I love the laugh lines. He looks like he's probably a generally happy person. His eyes smile. :)
I love the layering of this, particularly the unbuttoned denim shirt beneath the vest, yet it's still all tucked in. Never thought I could use the term clean for a peasant look like this!
This I have to say is one of my favorite out of this section. The out of place beard, to the plaids, and the finish of the chain is amazing. Thank you for sharing your visions.
thank you for taking all of these wondeful photographs, I dont know if you even read the comments but I just watched a short documentary on you, and I just think that you have an amazing eye.
This is so far my favourite photo this winter and the reason is authenticity. The unkept (no make up) face fits the way he dressed here and it does not seem like he is making a fashion statement. Reminds me of a peasant in rural Italy or a cowboy from Texas.
I like how he layers denim over denim. The vest gives a country feeling to contrast with the city vibes the denim gives. And I absolutely love his that cute little bow. A really cool look with a bit of cheekiness!
I can feel his artistic personality. He is delibrate in what he puts together. He creates, and builds his outfit. There's this creative life to him. It's neat to read the story of his person.
OUT of categorie DANDY…….pure genius. He sooo knows what he is doing. One can see incredibly well dressed men, cooly dressed men, one's that pull it off without trying, however, Yep, out of categorie. Personally, I give him my Oscar for the One who touched my soul with his Way. Oh, yes, this is a declaration of Love…… Special thanks to the director, Scot Schuman.
I love the outfit. It is both casual and refined. Guess it took quite a long time to get all the elements together to come to that result. The photo is great also – wished I could get similar results.
A beard always makes a man look older than what he is and when it´s untrimmed like that it tends to make him look like an old hippie-relic. The outfit is original, though ..
I have always been a fan of tweed/oatmeal coloured checks with denim. Perfect together. Love his chain, love his look, but find the beard a little straggly. I would prefer it more soigné, as the hippy aspect isn't really my thing. Having said that, he is a gorgeous man and you can just SEE that he's the right kind of human being. If he's Italian too, that's the cherry on the cake….
this man's so far the best guy you've ever snapped. i love everything about this shot: the clothes, the vibe, the lighting, the person, everything. amazing. i think he's some kind of an artist. so charming.
Love everything but the jacket. A little too precious for me, but would be adorable on a child. This look would be perfect with a beat up corduroy jacket or a chunky sweater, or just nothing but the vest and shirts as is. He's got a very charming face and I love the belt and the hardware.
This guy looks as if he would be as interesting on the inside as he is on the outside, to me that is true style. Your pics make me day dream about different people in different worlds and lift my spirits in cold, grey New York. Thank you!
The juxtaposition between this gentleman's hair, his hat, his patches and faded coat (my favorite element) and the dapper plaid vest, layering of color, belt and hardware detail, is simply divine. It's like he owns his clothes in saying," I like shabby when it's has decorum, and I'm so proud of my shabbiness, I'm dressing it to the max" The red ties on the plaid patches are so brilliant and the bow….wow! Like diamonds in dust….this photo exemplifies how informal meets formal and all the rules come tumbling down. The hair and beard are precisely what makes this story so complete. Thank you so much for another wonderful photo!
the most urbane hobo. this look is so studied and specific. It would taste like a costume but for his face and the commitment of the big beard and long hair. He means it!
there's not part of this man that says sloppy or too fashion,,, lov the style, so much comes and goes but Denim and patch's always looks right, what about seeing the shoes?
I get the impression spilling red wine on his couch wouldn't be a problem. He wouldn't diss someone for the choices they make, even if they were the opposite of his own. He looks like he sees beyond appearances. If I had to describe him in two words (which of course I don't!) I would say: 'angst free.'
captivating! i am absolutely thrilled and smitten by this look. yet another example of how style extends to more than just clothes – this makes me want to sit down with this man over coffee or a drink and just share stories.
Very nice. My husband recently bought a nice vintage levi demim jacket and I am going to show him this picture for inspiration. Love this! Love the patches and the simple gray tee underneath. The hat gives it a more casual feel. I love your blog it always inspires me to want to dress better.
Did someone say he looked homeless… I'll give him a home! That little denim sandwich is so perfect, the bow garnish one twist too many for me but just love the personality in his style!
mmm, all of these bearded men look so handsome! i love how this man looks both put-together (jacket, vest, belt, etc.), but raggedy. rather reminds of of depression-era gentlemen. worn-in, but proper. i love all of his little details too!
So many different textures (jean, tweed, leather, small wrinkles on skin, the beard, …). It's such a contrast yet they all fit together under the very cool and relaxed attitude of the man wearing all this. Interresting…
Excellent layering and a bit of an eclectic feel to it. Great use of denim and houndstooth in this gentleman's outfit. Men seem to be sporting D'artagnan style beards and mustaches these days and his ,along with that cool hat, looks marvelous.
Great photo of a great outfit that shows great masculinity. See the layers if what he wears: 4 layers. Yes, men are complex creatures. We need more men with that courage to dress in a special way, their way. Mark

Perhaps a litte bit too much of everything? Too much details, too cool, too aware, too much pattern etc.

Love everything but the jacket. A little too precious for me, but would be adorable on a child. This look would be perfect with a beat up corduroy jacket or a chunky sweater, or just nothing but the vest and shirts as is. He's got a very charming face and I love the belt and the hardware.

I get the impression spilling red wine on his couch wouldn't be a problem. He wouldn't diss someone for the choices they make, even if they were the opposite of his own. He looks like he sees beyond appearances. If I had to describe him in two words (which of course I don't!) I would say: 'angst free.'
