This young woman is lovely…… but the bench !
It caught my eye with this incredible stone mosaic and beautiful, intricate wrought iron work. Notice the attachments to the stone bench !
The pose made me think of a pregnant woman. Don’t you come across any? it would be interesting too to see how they dress and if they add their little touch, other than their beautiful condition. I love the look, perfect for my youngest daughter who has a style totally of her own.
The light here in Spain is amazing and you have captured it perfectly!!
Plus I love the simplicity and elegance of what she is wearing.
I’m a Madrid, London and Dresden based photographer with loads of fashion shots from all three cities. I would love to have peoples opinions if anyone cares to take a peek!!
I think those benches are Antonio GaudĂ ‘design and are the base of nice srteetlights. They are only in Pasaseig de Gracia .
Scott I really wish you a nice staying in BCN.
I’m so pleased you mentioned this sandy, as Scott has done another subtle and artistic capture of similar lines in the beautiful woman and the surroundings. It’s no accident the photo is cropped as it is, to allow the bench and lamppost to be a part of the complementary flow of the eye.
I’m also picking up a care-freeness from her; almost like she woke up in her night slip(gown), threw on a pair of sneakers, grabbed a cardi, and went for a morning stroll. It’s quite refreshing.
I’m 16 and my high school is right there. Almost every single day, during the break between classes, we sit in those benches (so catalan modern style, so inspiring…). It’s awesome live in this city… there’s plenty of… everything (people, styles, cultures,…). I hope you enjoyed it!! (I would have loved to run into you there!). Very nice photo by the way! ;)
Lovely, minus the annoying topknot, the single most annoying trend of the year. Even worse on those with short hair. Men, especially, look so foolish. I wish I knew who to blame.
Couldn’t agree more, Andy. The topknot trend is even more annoying than the mustache graphic appearing on everything from finger tattoos to baby onesies.
But this shot is stunning nonetheless. Such gorgeous light.
Andy, I must say, as annoying as the topknot may be, the nonchalantness (I may have just created that variation of the word) of this particular one IS refreshing. Yes, her hair is short and all of it is not captured in the knot. It’s messy, almost needing someone to say, “She needs to go comb her hair,” but my, oh, my does it lend to the awesome subject that IS this photo.
This is the same street where we had an apartment when I first came to Barcelona for 9 lovely days (for a conference) and I first noticed how lovely a woman can look when her clothes fit perfectly. Even old women of modest means had clothing tailored to their size. And they looked magnificent. There was also something about dressing well and not being at war with yourself. I learned so much from that trip.I am happy to be reminded of all those lessons here in this one image. Thanks Scott!
What I love about this shot is the beauty and innocence–She has no idea how sexy and gorgeous she is– I love the way every pic you take tells a story. Who is she waiting for? Or what is she waiting for?
It’s the simplicity of both the style & the fabric that brings out the femininity & charm in the outfit. I’d love to see more dresses make like this. The runners are comparable to icing on a cake! Great photo & even better style!
The pose is so striking, and the contrast of the softness of her dress next to the ironworks is wonderful, like a living sculpture next to a sculpture. But what really makes this photo for me is the fact that the lighting makes her figure apparent through the ivory dress — like a Degas sculpture – so free and open and natural and sexy all at once. Simply no other outfit would have made the same shot – great eye, Scott!
Great picture, as always!
I’m from Barcelona and I’m really happy that you chose my city to take some photos.

Me three.
Ballerina angel about to fly or scooter to heaven? Rehearsal?
Honestly, with the beautiful light it took me more than a second to figure out it was a sweater and not serious angel wings.
Her hair and head band add to the cute angelic vibe.
Who knew stylish Spainish angels had such fab bags and sneaks to boot.
Such ethereal, beautiful lightness..all next to the artful girth of the Gaudi (?) tile and wrought iron(?) bench.
Enchanting!
