I’m loving all white outfits this summer – especially with the blistering heat.

So pure ! It’s interesting when you’re putting two pictures which show the interpretation of white. The first is a kind of classic one that we’re used to see on the street and the other is the new one that only very stylish and modern fashion can do.

I’m liking this trend! The first dress reminds me of a vintage tennis dress from the 1960s we sold in our online store. Really cool and simple.

Only in Florence could the nurses be this chic. I like how they both have they’re own unique outfits, and the shoes on the second nurse certainly aren’t standard either.

Are they really nurses? I thought they were and was about to write that they are a far cry from our American nurses in candy colored scrubs! But maybe “Nurse Chic” is just the title about all white outfits. Will we ever know? Either way, they look lovely!

    July 10, 2012 at 11:30 am

    I love the simplicity.

Wearing a uniquely white or black outfit becomes an interesting statement about shape and texture. It’s something I want to encorporate more into my style.

Women in white make me think of “Cover Her Face” by P.D. James.

I keep seeing fashion in terms of how images would fit for a novel cover as I am in the process of designing a few over the next few weeks.

There was a time when white shoes and bags would be not elegant bwecause they were associated with nurses. Today the nurses wear pants and clogs so that it has become a trend to wear white now. Somehow like it better in a combination with grey, black and leather. http://madrilicious.com

Sterile. In a city that is filled with dust and dirt all summer long where I cannot seem to keep my feet clean for one block…these women have achieved the unachievable! Sometimes I just want the women to undo the clothes and just walk away from them leaving them suspended in mid air…like a bird leaving its cage when the owner forgets to lock the little door.

Perfect harmony of clothes and street. Second one is an exquisite take on the Japanese inspired linen suit – great to see it on someone who looks like she belongs in the town rather than on the catwalk.

Nurses now don’t wear white, at least not in North America. They wear easy wash, coloured scrubs, which make nurses look undignified and hard to tell apart from the cleaning staff.

I love the old English movies where nurses wear these little white outfits with capes and hats. So darling.
    All that time spent starching.

Did you know that in the early days of nursing, they were forbidden to marry? That was the level of dedication required. And young women came in droves.

I am a transplanted Pom living in Sydney and I wilt during the sweltering summers here. I can’t find clothes I like and those I do wear are like cheap creased handkerchiefs within two minutes. But Oh! That gloriously pristine second woman gives me hope. I can almost imagine enjoying summer if clothes (and shoes) like that were to be found (and if it were possible not to get them filthy – recent ventures into colour have highlighted an unexpected advantage of top to toe black).

  84. no more bright colors

    July 13, 2012 at 1:11 pm

I do love the all white look, its even better then all black. I think absolutely everyone is getting ready to put away the colored crayon outfits we have been wearing for the last year. The neon trend, the yellow trend, the yellow and blue trend, the orange trend…blah, blah, blah….. The second girl is perfection itself. Not very nurse-like, but very chic.

The woman in white! OMG – Sublime, but the MEN!!! The 1st one in the gingham shirt and then the dark haired one in the blue suit jacket… just beautiful – such deliciousness for the eye – so rare to see here in SF… time to move!

  86. S

    July 14, 2012 at 7:02 pm

Both are stunning studies in white.
But not sensuous enough, too severe to make you melt at some level. I mean I just find the severe shoes so off-putting. They just cut off options at such a deep level for the wearer & the viewer.
The first lady has a romantic face – she’s hoping it will off-set the rest.
The second is admirable, but so morbid
