I like the colour of plaid on these guys, but what is with the tuck in shirt tail, and total tuck in with an obvious gut. I personally think that when one wears a plaid top with a denim pant, the top should not be tucked in, and if the man does want to tuck it in he needs to make sure he has hit the gym and/or done his crunches to gain a flat stomach. However, regardless of his small paunch, love the aesthetic on the guy on the right; glasses, clean cut, hair coiffed down. Great look on both.
I’ve seen so much plaid over the last few weeks but I love it. When a plaid shirt is teamed with faded jeans the look (as this demonstrates) is stylistic perfection.
The man on the left (in the blue) is just too handsome for words. And I wonder if the man on the right (red) really has that much of a paunch or if it is just an optical illusion due to the stripes on his plaid shirt? Or due to a bit of billowing of his shirt? I too love the hair – it seals the look for me. Just perfect.
obvious gut? paunch? he could possibly have just exhaled… is there something wrong with that?? i actually like that he doesn’t have washboard flat abs. they’re unnatural and severe-looking; this guy loks comfortable in his skin and stylish at the same time.
Classic Geek Chic or Stylish Outdoors-y look. Your call. But this photo right here justifies my reason for never getting rid of my plaid shirts! Yes, “American” style almost undeniably demand these to hang loosely. Abandon the tuck!
Good photography invokes a story allow me to share mines:
Guy on the right (little unkempt but kewl) tries to emulate the guy on the left (stylishly complete) however guy on the right is having a little more success accomplishing whatever it is the two are trying to accomplish, hence the silly “yeah” look on his face. Meanwhile, lefty is pissed his style works better elsewhere! You add the plot…
The Sartorialist has done a beautiful job as always.
.Love the hair– not just slicked back but parted as well.
I’m less in love with the makeup. I get it, soft femme face with shirts based on outdoorsy he-men garb, but it feels a bit forced, a bit self-conscious to me.
Sorry, Scott, when I wrote “ar ar ar” about the “not half plaid” headline I meant I thought the headline was clever — I wasn’t commenting on the spelling (actually, I thought “hlaf” was a reference to a designer I’d never heard of).
two comments - what product do guys put in their hair to keep it slick like that all day, that smells good but not heavy, without it clogging up the follicles? seems like mine drinks up whatever i’m using. any recommendations? also, a concentrated gut on a slim physique is the next big thing in male body aesthetics. body fascism is over.
There seems to be a style nod to late 50′s/early 60s America at the moment and I adore it. Classics such as plaid shirts worn with faded jeans is worth celebrating as they are ultimately timeless classics. This reminds me of a groomed scene from ‘The Deer Hunter’.
I can’t believe someone thinks one of these guys has a “paunch”. They’re so obviously in great shape. Do yourself a favor, paunchophobe, and stay out of Disneyland or the Ozarks.

Beautiful fading on those jeans, do you know if it was natural?

This is such a cool picture–it looks like a movie still. I love the plaids/checks, but I really hate that one shirt-tail hanging out thing.

It’s hard to make a cute boy look like an uber geek. This one takes it a bit further and makes a cute boy look like an uber geek girl.
Very androgene and well done.
The navy blue plaid gent also looks fine but it’s the red shirted one who steals the show.

More interesting than the plaid shirts is, to me, the slicked back hair. It’s a do that’s hard for most guys to pull of, yet these two do it in…style.
It’s interesting to contemplate a time–the twenties, thirties, roughly–when this was what you, if male, wanted your hair to look like.

Rockabilly is so big in Sweden. Awesome! I believe the Hot Rod Scene is even bigger than in its origin country, the USA! You can witness lots of well-done US cars from the 50s and even Deuce Coupés or other Fords on the Streets of Sweden on a daily basis! Rockabilly has become more than just a youth coulture from the 80s, a lot of guys LIVE it until today – and forever.

there are many real urban rockabilly´s in sweden who dresses much more authentic and sincere and more nitical stylish than these, though.
these are more ordinary average jonh-jeans and ordinary plaid copy shirts, i´d say.
but they look nice without the clothes.
