I like the colour of plaid on these guys, but what is with the tuck in shirt tail, and total tuck in with an obvious gut. I personally think that when one wears a plaid top with a denim pant, the top should not be tucked in, and if the man does want to tuck it in he needs to make sure he has hit the gym and/or done his crunches to gain a flat stomach. However, regardless of his small paunch, love the aesthetic on the guy on the right; glasses, clean cut, hair coiffed down. Great look on both.
The man on the left (in the blue) is just too handsome for words. And I wonder if the man on the right (red) really has that much of a paunch or if it is just an optical illusion due to the stripes on his plaid shirt? Or due to a bit of billowing of his shirt? I too love the hair – it seals the look for me. Just perfect.
obvious gut? paunch? he could possibly have just exhaled… is there something wrong with that?? i actually like that he doesn’t have washboard flat abs. they’re unnatural and severe-looking; this guy loks comfortable in his skin and stylish at the same time.
Classic Geek Chic or Stylish Outdoors-y look. Your call. But this photo right here justifies my reason for never getting rid of my plaid shirts! Yes, “American” style almost undeniably demand these to hang loosely. Abandon the tuck!
Good photography invokes a story allow me to share mines:
Guy on the right (little unkempt but kewl) tries to emulate the guy on the left (stylishly complete) however guy on the right is having a little more success accomplishing whatever it is the two are trying to accomplish, hence the silly “yeah” look on his face. Meanwhile, lefty is pissed his style works better elsewhere! You add the plot…
The Sartorialist has done a beautiful job as always.
Sorry, Scott, when I wrote “ar ar ar” about the “not half plaid” headline I meant I thought the headline was clever — I wasn’t commenting on the spelling (actually, I thought “hlaf” was a reference to a designer I’d never heard of).
two comments - what product do guys put in their hair to keep it slick like that all day, that smells good but not heavy, without it clogging up the follicles? seems like mine drinks up whatever i’m using. any recommendations? also, a concentrated gut on a slim physique is the next big thing in male body aesthetics. body fascism is over.
There seems to be a style nod to late 50′s/early 60s America at the moment and I adore it. Classics such as plaid shirts worn with faded jeans is worth celebrating as they are ultimately timeless classics. This reminds me of a groomed scene from ‘The Deer Hunter’.
