A white dress is absolutely perfect for summer. She looks so fresh and casual. I love the pop of color with the blue necklace. It makes this look so much more interesting.
the dress is nice and i like the incongruity of the thongs with the floaty dressy dress..but adding the necklace to me is too much..looks very pedestrian..
i would have prefer nothing..then the focus would be the thongs..simple
well, i am the flip flop queen if there ever was one. i think that on her, with that dress, the sandals keep it casual, not prissy, relaxed rather than stuffy. i love wearing a pretty little dress, some eye-popping jewelery and my flip-flops. that's my style all the way, and i get compliments all the time. it needn't be foo-foo head to toe, you know?
Lovely young woman. Like that her hair is away from her face. Nice bangles. But is that a cigarette in her right hand? Too bad. The shadows on the sidewalk are also very nice, and the contrast of the buildings on the left and the trees on the right.
I think the ethereal white dress is loosely disguising her hidden desire for comfy shoes, rockin' sunnies and cigarettes! This picture reminds me to see beyond first impressions…
All white in the summer with a hint of color is always right. I wish she wore something else instead of a flip flop though. Just posted an all white pic of a girl wearing a Rafe bag on my blog: http://rafeloves.rafe.com
i think she looks beautiful and relaxed. isn't that important? i'm not sure why some viewers remark on the lack of a slip. there is nothing even vaguely slutty looking about her dress, comportment nor attitude.
i find her look refreshing and inspired on a god awful hot and sleep inducing humid day.
the turquoise really does pop….though I have to agree I wish she was rocking some contrasting bright heels…..something unexpected like olive or plum. still, i love the sheer white maxi for the summer, with a big bold necklace.
Yup. The flip flops sort of throw the outfit off for me. Gladiators probably would have done the same since I'm SO over them. I'm not sure what shoe I would give this woman. Maybe because I don't like the dress either? :(
Here in Sydney no one would blink at the 'flip flops'. I'd rather look at this relaxed woman than that tryhard pair in black below (although it is a marvellous double portrait).
I love the look, including the cig., which gets lost in the sea of white. The red in the sunglasses, the turquoise necklace and the gold bangles make it a very clean summer look. Now for the flip flops…I'm glad to see the feet were, at least, well manicured; otherwise it would have been an infraction (serious or otherwise).
I love the centre part in her hair and the dress, but…..scrolled down and wondered why would someone with such a lovely sense of style would ruin the whole effect with those mundane flip flops?
She is in New York City, give her a break on the flipflops! I have my trusty flipflops whenever I walk 20 blocks to and from work. But I change to my sandals once I get in the office.
Anyway, I have a similar outfit that I'll be wearing to a club. The turquoise and white contrast is beautiful!
The dress practically dissolves into the sidewalk, thus procuring a stunning elongation effect. I recall ads Ralph Lauren ran for years centered around a similar, simplistic turquoise and white color story. Nothing screams summer louder than the fresh and aesthetically please combination.
I just love the colour of that necklace, and it goes so nicely with the neckline and colour (or lack of) of the dress. Indeed nearly everything I've bought lately seems to be turquoise.
she looks gorgeous and effortless, especially with the turquoise, but the flip-flops were a poor choice. simple and chic sandals would have done the outfit justice.
She can wear casual sandals, leather, that breathe – doesn't have to be black Old Navy flip flops. Way too boring. Sandals can be sexy AND walkable! I agree that she needs a slip. It's not a modesty issue – it just looks sloppy.
Flip flops, sneakers, pj bottoms… All have their time and place, but too often we see them outside of their intended uses and purposes. I see too many beautifully dresses women whose outfit is ruined by a pair of flip flops, and this one is a good example: effortless, light, beautiful… and flip flops? They belong on a beach or in the public shower, she'd be better off barefoot.
I love this beautiful summer ensemble! The only thing that is bothering me (next to the cigarette) are the flipflops….but that's a personal thing between flipflops and me. I just don't like them very much.
I love the combination of turquoise and white, and the necklace is really pretty but I think her dress is way too transparent. I'd wear a dress like this to the beach, not in the city.

I used to bash the flip flops. I would avoid them. Especially the ubiquitous brown leather flip flops seen everywhere with everything.
Then I realized how free my feet felt when I wore them. Light. My toes could breathe a bit.
I don't wear them with everything, but now and again they feel great.
This woman looks great. Cool, relaxed.
