Oh, this is a lovely outfit on a nice man. Tempered and almost safe, but so serene and radiant.

Mr. Schaefer looks decidedly casual for Saks Vice-President of Marketing! ;-)

I love this look. It’s very tailgate party.

He looks so comfortable and neat.

Looks his age and looks nice. Dignified and casual at the same time.

it seems that mr schaefer is not as appealing to comment upon as some smoking french chicks. . . so i wish to log a bit of praise.

i would wear this NOW (green hermes agenda? yes, please.), but the fact that this man has aged so gracefully and still feels young. . . hope for us all.

Look like his cuffs are rolled, not stitched. Nice touch on a casual look.

he looks so comfy and warm.
i almost missed the scarf around his neck, it blends in nicely with his shirt.

Very nice! This photo is all about the quilted waistcoat (down vest?) and suede shoes, IMO. A great pairing! I’m happy too to see cuffs on those trousers. Well played.

This is another wonderful example of “the professor” look, isn’t it?

In fact, I’m going to demand that my husband start dressing like this!

“Rake” is the word that springs to mind.

He looks like someone I’d like to hang with – am sure he has stories to tell!

the stance plus the vest plus the architecture make for a hell of a shot!

p.s. the suede shoes are very Milanese, no?

He is a lesson to us all that you don’t have to be young or rail thin or clad in uncomfortable clothes to look elegant. I have a hard time taking my eyes away from this photo…I guess trying to figure out how something so simple looks so gorgeous. The texture of the vest and shoes is is pure eye candy.

    So simple – so chic.

Love the way all the pieces – including the British racing green “envelope” all work together.

Savvy gentleman — black on top to minimize paunch, white pants to distract the eye. Also love the textures and the fit.

Wish I knew whose cap, vest and briefcase he is wearing/using.
A great look – well done Mr. Schaefer and Mr. Sartorilaist. We who live far from the madding crowd appreicate seeing people with real style.

Truly a man for all seasons. The quilted vest with a sweater and scarf is something which I wear to death in the fall. What really seals the deal on this look, though, are those beautiful seude shoes with comfy rubber soles (ready for anything). If I could play sports in rubber soled suede shoes, I would.

Nice shot. Love his look, the vest and pants are very Italian. Wish I could pull this off. Thanks Sart for giving me examples of “How to…”

The briefcase has to be Valextra – very understated.

No briaded leather, no initals, no logos – chic as hell.

Dear Sartorialist, how could you find more women of this age group who would look also classic and neat and enough fashionable! We also need help how to dress nicely, an we are not all into the latest fashions and still want to look neat and contemporate! I am 57 years old myself.
