Usually love the socks and high heeled sandals look, but it really shortens her legs. Other than that, what an interesting look. Between her hair and her art, she’s making quite a statement.
Apparently socks and sandals are the thing today! I really like this look. It seems like something you would see in the Pacific Northwest. Edgy and cool.
LOVE everything about this. This woman is sassy and doing things absolutely her own way. CBC – you may well be right about European cold feet. I look at the shots of women in New York in bare legs and strappy sandals, and it makes me want to shiver. Perhaps we feel the Autumn chill a bit more acutely on this side of the Atlantic.
She would look so much better without the tattoos. Tattoos are gross, just wait until the tattooed are in their fifties and we are exposed to tattoos that have seen better days. I love her dress, hair, sandals and socks.
I think it’s gross to say that tattoos are gross. And, knowing several people (male and female) aged 50 and over who have tattoos, I can categorically say that they don’t look bad. Some look as good as they did 10 and 15 years ago, and the tattoos that have seen better days still give the wearer a certain rugged charm.
It’s important to remember that tattoo designs are as subject to fashion and whim as everything else in our world, and that when the particular moment passes will end up seeming ugly and foolish. Remember barbed wire on men’s biceps? I sometimes think the fashion for “sleeves” arises out of the desire to obscure past tats. The tattoo establishment itself has come up with a very clever tact arguing that even if a past tattoo now looks stupid, it commemorates a particular time in your life so enjoy the look into your naive and foolish past.
J’adore j’adore j’adore!
The problem with the socks are that they are the wrong pair. They are too long and, scrunched down like that, they are making the legs shorter and the ankles thicker. The tattoos are beautiful, the gray hair striking – this woman looks confident. Confidence is beauty.
Strong, sleek, beautiful, and utterly cool, working the tension between the classic dress and the punk-rock elements. She’s just super-fab. And I love that (gloriously greying) hair.
What a super awesome rocking lady. She looks so sharp … it’s insane. I’m not a fan of tattoos (too much of a commitment!) but everything here is so suave … she’s forgiven!

Great dress. And she is so cute! Of course love the socks and sandals done especially well.
To people who just can not shut up about other peoples choices to get tattoos; Your lack of tact and manners is deplorable. If someone is so shallow that they think that aging skin is a problem, then they will think so wether that skin has a tat on it or not. Most of us are not that stupid. Most of us. Now please, for the last time. these comments are offensive. Its hard to appreciate this lovely photo when you have to deal with such small minded negativity. My elderly neighbor and many of his friends have the “Handsome Dan” the bulldog (Thats the Yale Uni mascot) tats on them in various places( no, I have not actually SEEN them all. Some are private) and they have plenty of other tats too. They are quite old, and proud of it, and proud of their tats.
wow wow wow! She is playing up so many contrasts and she does all perfectly..the list goes on. I wonder what she does as a job. Please post some images of stylist hannes hetta. His style is so amazing, yet I find it to be rather un-documented.
Wow! I have to say everything is perfect, great facial structure, great style, toned physique, and I love the hair with her gray showing!!! Can you fall in love with someone just through a photograph?
I must say though, I am pretty tired of both men and women who get tattoos randomly placed, in exposed parts of their body and in many cases bad tattoo jobs. But, in this instance it really works for her!
As someone who loves tattoos, the art and symbolism, I think the millennial generation have taken to it as a fashion statement or more of a decorative art versus a life long mark on one’s skin that should tell a story or have some deeper meaning. There are times when I’m walking through NY’s east village amazed at how ugly and hap hazard it’s become, or going to the beach and it looks like the bus from Riker’s Island just let out. Time like that I miss the beauty of bare, unmarked skin.
Oh, this woman is so edgy-chic-hot. I’m doing an asymmetrical cut myself right now, but now I’m thinkin’ of going for this woman’s cut. Love her going grey with panache. Is she half-Asian like me? She looks so rockin’ confident. I love it. Thank you.

Love the hair and the dress. She is very pretty and in great shape. As a fashion statement, I don’t care for the socks and sandals. Finally, I’ll be going against most other comments here by saying that the tats ruin it for me. I don’t care how beautiful or edgy she (and everyone else) thinks she is, it is tasteless and a complete turn-off. I can just see her as an old woman with this ‘art’ … better yet, I’d rather not.
I love this, she’s so strong & powerfull looking; her hair, her very toned and tatted arms, right down to the shoes /w socks, which typically reminds me of a 6 year old girl.
So nice to see a “long time ago” friend again…Ciao tesoro, un bacione grosso grosso!!!
PS: finalmente vedo i tatuaggi di cui, a suo tempo, avevo solo sentito parlare ;)
Lover her Swinton-esque style, and the tattoos. And to the people who say “ew, what about when she’s in her 50s and her skin sags?” I think she’ll still look interesting and unique and fabulous. You’re going to have sagging skin and wrinkles anyway, you might as well have some beautiful, detailed art on it. And arm tattoos are especially sexy!
I’m sure this fabulous woman could care less what you uptight commentors think of her tattoos. She obviously will not fit into your little fashion do or don’ts box. She looks confident and amazing!
A very “punch in the stomach”-like style. It really breaths freedom and great confidence in so many ways with the hair, tattoos, simple tailored dress and heels. It’s almost like she’s stating a 3′d identity or a 3′d sex. I really do think this picture points in to an interesting fashion direction and would like to see more of in the future.
Thank you for this weblog. Thats all I can say. You most absolutely have made this weblog into some thing thats eye opening and essential. You clearly know so a lot about the subject, youve covered so a lot of bases. Great stuff from this component of the net. Once again, thank you for this weblog.
As individualistic as hell while remaining elegant to a ‘T’.
Even the flecks of grey in her hair are uber-cool, and you know she couldnt care less about the grey which only adds to her appeal.
Simplicity, unfussy clean lines and perfect cut are what have always done it for me in terms of stylish apparel, and she totally embodies that, while adding an X factor of an inconspicuous dash of unabashed individualism.

she’s super hot. i’ve always had strong oedipal leanings anyway – she’s so right up my alley.
she’s stridently confident and physically provocative – and that combination is immensely sexy. kudos to her.

This look is so simple and beautiful. I’d like to see the socks about 3″ shorter to better complement her legs, but she still looks amazing.

Rocks it !!
Completely rocks it !!
Absolutely love it !!!!
