I don’t understand why having an ultra-short haircut makes a woman androgynous. This woman has on feminine makeup, a fuzzy sweater, and a skirt–why was it tagged under androgyny? Short hair is not innately masculine, so how is a woman in a completely feminine outfit androgynous?
What Grace said. Also, for some women, short hair is not necessarily a choice, but a matter of genetics, health, etc. I question the thinking that a woman without long flowing tresses is automatically masculine or androgynous looking.
YOU don’t have to see her as androgynous. I think short hair isn’t necessarily masculine. But hair shaved like that is rather butch wether she intends this or not. Just because you don’t think she looks androgynous doesn’t mean others can’t think so, or can’t tag her that way. Your logic is fine, but not everyone shares it.
Either way, she looks very pretty, but definitely unusual.
So great to see Berlin in this feed! A regular source of inspiration for me–esp. in Mitte, in the streets where this photo was taken. So many unusual, elegant, playful, funky types. It’s great people-watching. Thanks for this!
I find it intersting that most people here talk about her “choice” of hairdo, and only one person questions that this may actually not be her choice at all. I had a shaved head due to cancer treatment, and I loved it. But did I chose it? hell no!
