I love the continuity of this outfit. This woman knows how to balance out the multi-colored pattern on her dress with the right-colored cropped jacket and the gorgeous red heels… Just enough red in the strappy shoes to keep the look light. She knows how to make the most of her petite frame. Great!
I have been loving your summer inspired post as of late…but, this simply does not work. I love to mix it up. This is just trying too hard. Pretty smile.
Does “Missoni-ish” mean she’s wearing a knock-off? It would be surprising with the Chanel quilted bag. Anyway, nice combination with the cropped jacket and colorful elegant sandals.
why is it missoni-ish – it is most probably missoni – i don’t like that comment – the girl is rocking a chanel bag – duh? if you can afford chanel you can afford missoni – did you ask her???
i like the combination of colors going on here. the brightness of the dress with the neutral jacket and the metallic bag– it all works! her hair looks great too.
Fresh and pretty and not in any particular “category” of fashion. NOT trying too hard. Just easily summery and comfortably wonderful. Nothing jarring about this. It’s lovely.
I don’t like the Chanel bag with the Missoni dress (skirt). Choosing two such obvious designer elements sounds like a fashion victim screaming to me. Too much of “them” , too little of her. The little jacket just can’t overcome the ” labels on the outside effect for me.”
I think she looks lovely – I would totally wear this! Great colors for her coloring. I’m surprised by all the comments that indicate a disdain toward mixing hi-lo (ie – if her dress is Forever 21, her bag must be fake, etc). It may be that shopping at Forever 21 for her dress is how she affords her classic Chanel bag!
anonymous said, “why is it missoni-ish – it is most probably missoni – i don’t like that comment – the girl is rocking a chanel bag – duh? if you can afford chanel you can afford missoni – did you ask her??? “
Have you ever heard of mixing high-end and low-end? People do it all the time. I think the dress is f21 and the bag is probably real.
Designer labels or not and I don’t really care if the bag and dress are real, fake, a hi-lo mixing or not, I would have liked to see her wear them together, or separately, in a more creative, personalized way. Here it looks very standard off-the-rack (or -shelf) label-y. Cute look but as they sometimes say, youth is wasted on the young.
I can’t believe this outfit is so controverisal, it’s really a simple, but great look. I like that you can’t tell if the skirt is a knock-off or not, because it doesn’t really matter either way.
i have that dress too. i wear cheapy f21 dresses all the time with designer shoes and bags. who cares at least you can pull it off. just because you wear one designer item doesn’t mean you have to designer from head to toe.
vintage clothes from thift stores cost the same or less than f21.. what’s the difference right?
I agree with Diva, the Chanel bag (however lovely) seems wrong for the warm colors of the dress, shoe, jacket, and the curl of her hair picking up the sunshine. The black bag is just too harsh for the rest. Otherwise perfect summer outfit.
I love love love this look. I love it when people incorportate African paterns in their clothes.
BellaNaija.blogspot.com has had a few posts of African desingers who use African fabric to make western style clothes. I wish I could get my hands on some of those designs.

All the pieces work so well together, and I love that her bag isn’t the size of a small car.

Nice outfit. Dress too short for the height of the heals and the length of the jacket. Two inches longer would be much more chic.
