The colour of her shirt is very cool and gives a fantastic 20s allure to the entire look. Plus, her headband is so fifties! Yes a great mix of different styles. I love it!
Fun fashion…I love how you capture the elegant, the whimsical, the edgy, and something like this–a style that seems to wink at the viewer. I love your blog!
It's so strange to see Italian women wearing shorts. I was sure that it would never happen in the city. Last year in Florence my friend and I debated about it. This year, in May, I saw a girl walking along near Piazza Santa Maria Novella in shorts and a nice men's-influenced white and blue-striped shirt. What is interesting though is that the Italian girls seem to opt for longer and more tailored shorts than do North American girls. I like it.Cute that she's still wearing her kerchief look!
I can't do the colours. They look too drab. The collar is very nice and I like the shorts. As to the '50's (?) headband and the insanely wacky specs, all good too. I struggle only with the colours and I would not be surprised if they grow on me… Thanks!
For me, fahsion is something that isn't an exaggeration. Anything too powerful that pops out too much is not my taste. I'm talking about our daily fashion.. And you seem to find people who are natural in that sense without beeing too dull either.. This woman is a good example.. She definitely has her own style with the 50's era going on, yet it's not an immitation either because of the toned down colors of her blouse and taylored shorts which for me looks more of a classical summer look. As always people say, the details that make the twist and turn into an original look.
I like this look too. The sandals are wonderful, not flip flops or gladiators, but something new. And those brown shorts, which are fairly pedestrian, look great with a lovely silk blouse like this. I do question the scarf around the head, I wish she had left her hair long, it makes me think that she has curlers underneath.
These shoes are a prime example of Florentine craftsmanship. The form is modern in its geometric lines, but dynamic enough that anyone would be hard pressed to find them boring in a decade or so.
Love it when people can pull off goofy and fun without sliding into performative "Look how KOOKY I am!" obnoxiousness. There's genuine confidence here.
I find that the shorts are not the most flattering for her legs and coloring. The head scarf and the glasses are not working either. The hair should be free of time reference. The sandals and the blouse is completely modern with the shorts. Very fashionista and great mood.
I love everything about this outfit, the shorts, the shirt the sandals… and the best part really is that she seems genuinely quirky and fun, where many people who attempt the same thing just appear fake and put on. I want to know where she shops…and I REALLY wouldn't mind a mini break to Florence right about now!
OMG! I must have dozens of photographs of my mom dressed almost exactly like this. She didn't do the scarf thing, although very popular in the forties, unless she had her hair in bobby pins underneath, but the rest of this picture brings back a flood of memories. I'll have to did around and find a few and send them in. Wow! Her sandals are to die for. Love it all, great photograph Scott!
And this is why I'm in love with Florence and would like to move back one day.
You have to check out the iconic photo I use (Cindy Crawford for Pepsi-Cola in the 90's) in my Gas Station Glamour posting. I think the photo says a whole lot about all-American fashion these days. XO Valerie
love all the texture and the geometry of the sandals. In terms of colours and lengths and baggyness/ overall look this reminds me a lot of "Summer in the City, Paris" you shot a week ago (girl with long shorts).
You have captured every essence of her character in this photo(with the background which creates an even stronger contrast, and that is why she looks so good..great photo!
Those sandals are a work of art!! The whole outfit and the woman are too, but the lines on those sandals – exquisite! How often can you say sandals are exquisite?!
i love everything about her outfit.. her style shows through the clothes, the nude blouse goes well with the long shorts and her headpiece is simply amazing. wish i could work that style..
I love that period (1940s, maybe even a bit of the 30s), and she pulls it off beautifully. Even though she's in Florence, the shorts and sunglasses make her look like a femme fatale in Raymond Chandler's Los Angeles.
Just looking at the pic makes me feel like Philip Marlowe!
Cute outfit, but it would be nothing with out her attitude. I really think it's her personality that makes this. Plus, it's so refreshing to see a woman in summer embracing her pale skin. I'm so used to seeing every Australian female covered in orange fake tan.. Another great picture Scott!
The epitome of vintage summer chic! She adores life which is very refreshing to see in a picture and not easy to capture. This outift whispers rather than shouts. her ring is very nice, too.
Fun & very expressive…. I notice got another summer look with almost the same colors & type of dress earlier in this blog…. but totally different impression…

Love the outfit, especially the blouse and the sandals. However, what I love the most is her playfulness… it's contagious!

The epitome of vintage summer chic!
She adores life which is very refreshing to see in a picture and not easy to capture. This outift whispers rather than shouts. her ring is very nice, too.

My mother wore scarves like this in the forties: influenced by Carmen Miranda? I especially like the way the scarf and sandals match.

I really like the skin tone colors used to make this outfit. The stay mute while the lady just pops out. This outfit totally compliments her style.
