Steampunk meets Laura Ashley! I saw a very similar ensemble the other day, also on Lex. I wonder if it was the same woman? Ever since I wrote a piece on the New Victorian landscape designers for Garden Design http://bit.ly/hSFkkP , I've been noticing New Vickies everywhere I turn. Are the clothes repro or antique? If the latter, how are the women managing without corsets?
fantastic! I'm really over everyone looking so polished. Bring on the eclectic grandma looks! (or grandpa dressed as grandma if you take into account comme des garcon's aw11 menswear which was brill). I love the weird way my grandma dresses. xx winnsome
We had a costume sale here in Stratford Upon Avon at the Royal Shakespeare Company (my employer) last week with people queueing from midnight. If this post had been up before then there would be loads of people rocking this look all over Warwickshire!
After a phonecall from her landlord, she lept from her Oliver Twist rehearsal and ran off hoping that no one would take a shot at her horrid shoes …but someone did…
So lovely! Would love to see a whole shot of the outfit from a distance, also. Love the subdued colors; gray and brown are my favorite neutral color mix.

Yes!
I so often do this myself. I love a slim coat over a full and/or flared skirt and the petticoat effect it creates.
I love the Edwardian vibe it gives and she's so right to go with menswear style shoes here…anything girly and it's too, I don't know, literal.

Bespeaks a gentler time of dirt and character and poetry. The shoes provide the paradox that give the look intelligence rather than becoming too twee.
