I agree with Living Golden, that is one great haircut and she has a really happy face, it goes with the lively spirit of her outfit, kind of makes it her own, i like that. Sart – re: the poetry – don’t give up the day job…
Leather and feathers go together like Valentino and spray tan (I love King Valentino – just riffing on the obvious). The first thing that slays me here is the color. How I love midnight blue. Secondly what a chic collection of textures.
I don’t think that the ostrich (if that’s what it is) bit is a skirt, it looks like it’s attached to a cardigan. How clever and flirty and funky all at once.
Feathers are great for a playful impact and here they’re done the perfect way: In a beautiful rich hue and paired with more “masculine” pieces – leather jacket, heavy pants, and keeping it all monochromatic and without preciousness or fussiness and, most importantly, without anything sparkling (which looks trashy or Vegasy with feathers). You gotta rock feathers with casual nonchalance, that’s all there is to that.
Lastly, note how there’s nothing fighting with the feathers to be the center of attention….. except her beautiful face which may just win the battle. She’s lovely and that haircut is killer.
My dear Sart, I do beleive those are indeed ostrich feathers, so your title’s clever and accurate.
How cute and sophiticated and fresh and classic this looks. Navy blue is so less severe and hard than black and still it offers the same simplicity. Such a wonderful color as illustrated here. I find the pants so unexpected and so perftect. Everything about her dress is perfect. I’m genuinely and eternally flabbergasted by how Parisiennes adorn themselves. For the life of me, I cannot locate the source from which their inspiration springs.
This reminds me wonderfully of the Louis Vuitton ads featuring Madonna (the ONLY living goddess!!)–and it was strange how Madonna was called out for wearing such an outfit . . . ! What a fun sense of style–what a sense of humour and whimsy!
So fresh and fun. The play on textures here is great. The leather keeps the feathers from being too frou frou. I think the colour really makes it work, in black I dont think this look would ‘sing’ as much.
I love this picture. The haircut is the best and the feathers are something different. Am I the only one who is concerned about the dangers of smoking when wearing this outfit? If you see her Sart, please point out this potential hazard, as I’ll only worry.
I know the kind of woman that wears such a confident, relaxed smile with such open, friendly eyes, and her outfit reflects that personality beautifully. I, too, would have preferred to see this ensemble with tights instead of the pant, as it throws a distracting balancing effect into this silhouette instead of letting the leathers and feathers (oh you, touche!) sing like they would. Great color for her and yes, I believe the skirt is Louis Vuitton. But I am naive as to who she is; can someone please share her name and profession, since several people seem to know who she is?
It’s marabou. But what rhymes with that? Caribou? No. Then you would be relating this lovely, girly-girl to a stork and a moose. That would be no good.
The feathers and leathers work. So does her outfit. So does the picture!
what a completely adorable individual. she’s like a lovely blue pixie…i LOVE her feathers, her haircut and how casually she’s wearing such an extraordinarily individual outfit.
The Hat Lady: There’s no way that everyone in Paris dresses like this! Sart just knows where to go to find the ones that do. I am used to seeing lots of chic women in, say, nice jeans, nice flats, a nice little top and a nice bag – classy but not wildly fashionable. I certainly never see people dressed like this more than once in a blue moon! It depends where you hang out, I guess.
@the hat lady : mmmh not everyone in paris dress like CB…believe me!!!!!and parisian believe NYer all dress like carrie… its funny I believe all girls all over the world have a fantasy of a city where they would dare and take the time to wear super cool Tutu like feather dresses with 78inches heel louboutin they would afford with all the million dollar they fantasy fashion job would pay them…oh and also they would have some cool place to attend where the cool crowd would totally get the feathers thing …
This is wonderful. The image loaded slowly and as soon as I came to the feathers I began to smile- actually I laughed out loud, but in delight! She’s lovely, too.
Diana, I think you will find, that the hungarian saying goes “sly bunny jumps big”, and it’s not at all a complimentary saying…this young lady however haas the most amazing smile, hair and I adore her jacket!
