First of all, I love le Marais. I visited Paris for the first time this winter, and le Marais was one of my favourite arrondissements. I love this girl’s shirt, the pattern is absolutely gorgeous. The botanical pattern has a slightly oldy worldy feel to it, and the colours are stunning. Her hair is really cool as well, it looks like it’s going to fall off her head.
I’m still a fan of this print and am surprised it’s gone this late into the season so well. Love the accent of black in her hair clip too. http://lordashbury.com
i like the colourful blurry part of the photo to the right of the main subject; the whole thing becomes a bouquet of flowers reflected
in a clear pond. plus the hint of peach with sequin crosses.
Is she the version modern of the Gibson Girl ? I love her vibe. Sometimes being a little bit “négligé” is also a way to be glamorous. I think that is a peculiarity of French girls, they do know how to look good even when they are kind of messy. And yes this was a rough generalization :D.
I love the way she wears the shirt — a perfect loose fit for late summer. But, my favorite part of the outfit has to be the sequin gold crosses stitched into her skirt. It’s all in the details, right?
Soooo French and effortless I was just commenting on Garance blog about hair color.. she has great style ….it would go with every look day to night I am a hairdresser and this would even be a wedding look minus the comb
The blouse is Jess Hart for Pencey Standard. I think she has been doing a collabo with them for a few seasons. Love the print and the boyish shape. I really enjoy seeing good pajama dressing on the streets and not just on the runway.
The shirt would look great with some denim cutoffs as well.
Great colors!
So much love! Love the ‘effortlessness’ of the French. The contrast of the loose fitted easy floral day wear top, and the embellished bottoms. Great capture.
I think you captured this moment 5 minutes too early…give her some time and she’d take that clip out and shake out her long locks and give us all that effortless Parisian look ;)
XOXO
beautiful girl. She’s AMERICAN! which means the hair clip could be there all day. But here’s another photo of her with her hair day but wearing the same clip! http://makingmagique.com/paris/summer-cocktail/
Her hair makes me think of Helena Bonham Carter in a Room with a View. I love the floral blouse and the subtle sequin detail. I think I will wear florals today as well.
Le Marais is definitely a hotspot in Paris looking to flathshare there……. Besides that her look is relaxed and as well as sleek. Attention to detail is displayed here
I think there is “pushing the enevelope with edgy personal style” and then there is “hot mess.” While this lady’s shirt & skirt combo falls under the former category, her grooming falls in the latter. I’m not saying she needed to lacquer her hair into place Robert Palmer-style, but maybe a top bun instead of hair clip would still have given her that Gibson Girl quality.
OTOH, maybe I am just too staid, and hairclips and scrunchies are making a return to the fashion stage after 20-odd years in the sartorial wilderness.
And it wouldn’t be the first time that your blog has given me a “new eye” on a look I might previously have dismissed. I find I need a day or two to come back and look at the image anew.
Great print on her shirt. Her hair is a modern version of the pompadour. I can’t say that I love the hair – indeed, i never liked the look of the pompadour.
Lovely shot…very Pre-Raphaelite. Composition is so Scott with her in one doorway and the same colors mirrored out of focus several doorways down. How do you do it?
Thanks for this shot Scott! This is “I got out of bed at the butt crack of dawn to work my arse off!” hairstyle. Whenever I wear it, it’s provocative. Some people find it crazy horrifying, some people find it crazy cool…but well, THEY FIND IT.
I love this look. The banana-hair coming out of her head in that messy/untidy style, reminding me of an era prior to my birth. That hair clip which should have never been invented. Her sweet floral shirt that although has a lovely pattern, with that generous-with-fabric sizing, looks like it came from her grandmother’s closet. Her very pretty skirt that I would also wear but does not go with her top at all. It is a truly great combination.
