Love this! Casual taste and balance. Love how the black does not overpower her pale skin because its broken up by the soft grey and french blue in her jacket. It’s layering at its best! And not a scrap of make up. Beautiful!
Its images like these that make me want to pack my bags for Paris and never look back! Again another great shot that juxtaposes the slim and tailored (pant) with oversized and slouchy (cardigan), I smell a trend forming :-) Thanx sart!
Like your purple and black girl from a few days ago, this lady once again demonstrates how wonderful it looks to pair one garment in a bold color with other muted pieces. Great layering… I wish I could see the neckline of the innermost shirt better.
The clothing is nice. The cheekbones are fabulous. If she’s not a model, then I’m a monkey’s uncle. I love that she looks so great without a touch of makeup.
She’s a lovely person, and the teal blue flatters her, but am I the only one who sees the jacket and sweater as ill-fitting as opposed to slouchy? Jacket’s shoulders and sweater’s belly undermine the flattering fit of the under layers (blouse and slacks).
the series of triangles formed by her haircut, her chin, her black blouse and grey cardigan echo each other and make a perfect geometric composition. she has a beautiful face with no make-up. she is chic and cool.
The lace provides an unexpected contrast to the coat, scarf and sweater and its’ shape works well compositionally with those around it. I wasn’t keen on the piece itself at first but it functions well in this context so okay. The colors are great- a definite “Yea” in that department.
Effortless color combination. So casual and yet so flawless. I am verrrry interested in the detail on her sleeves. I believe I see some small ties at the elbow. Sweet.
Simply wow … out of every picture of yours I have ever looked at, for some reason this one might just be my all-time favorite. Perhaps because I’m half-Asian and find her absolutely positively striking. But she is also divinely dressed – that peacock blue truly illuminates her. She looks like modern day royalty.
wait, you all didn’t recognize her as a top model!? of course she is beautiful and has great style!! shame shame on you if you didn’t ; ) just kidding but check out her work, ai tominaga.
ive never seen her with such a short, chic haircut but of course her face can pull it off. i actually dont really like the mix of black and gray but each individual piece and color is lovely and she still wears it all well. just so cool and cas.
This is the most wonderful picture I’ve seen here…, what is this with Asian people ; they always look so mysteriously cool…If you look at this pic closely, you get this androgen kinda feeling… Love the blue of the jacket …
i think she looks great with this new hairstyle compared to her long locks before. like the interesting details(ribbon) on the jacket’s elbow. that’s something i haven’t seen before!
This blog is starting to become ‘spotting the fashion celebrity’. I thought it originally intended to depict anonymous cool people in the street, but lately, most of them seem to be working in the industry in some way or another. They certainly look great, but I think it is somehow biased…
Ai is so gorgeous she could wear anything, but I love the black lace layered under the grey cotton cardigan and topped by that vivid blue jacket. Masterful!
I agree with dan in richmond, the lace contrasts with the other solidly coloured items. In fact it jars a little, so much so that my eye is drawn away from her face every time, which is quite an achievement.
This is a great look! I hardly ever think ‘how could I do that?’ about the pictures in your blog, because I just really couldn’t. But this is something I could pull off, and pull off within my budget. Basic pieces, range of colors. We could all do this.
It shouldn’t take long to guess her profession is a model…you can see she is so at ease to put on a look and pose in front of the camera. And, she does have make up on, just in a very skillfully casual way.
A very complex look. All about textures and colour of course. Sheer layer next to skin; cashmere low-cut cardi; wast-cut heavier cashmere jacket; light cashmere scarf. Shape is important too – skinny jeans put her top-half on display. The bob, straight cut hair is perfect beyond words. What makes it work though are too elements we can’t see – her great body (I’ll bet) and her take-no-prisoners spirit.
Colours are classic: blue, black, grey…
Mind you, I’d love to be the guy who makes her laugh so her nose wrinkles…
I hate it when people say lose this or the black and gray don’t go together or the clothes are ill fitting. Just accept the fact that she is gorgeous and has great style that you can’t pull off. I think she’s lovely.
I can actually say that I first saw her from the side on a quiet Paris street in Le Marais. I had no idea who she was until I stopped her to take her photo. I feel very comfortable in how this happened.

she is one hot mommy! her son looked adorable in last year’s holiday Gap ad. she looks so cool with short hair (she had waist length in the Gap ad). i love blue and gray. i have seen some coats in this color that everday people can afford. this look is achievable for civilians!

@sart: I fully support you taking pictures of “famous” people. this is a blog about street style and there are a lot of known and recognisable faces out there that dress “naturally” with such originality and creativity, exactly what this blog celebrates. As always, kudos!
I love this. Definitely my kind of outfit, with a number of things taken here and there and a great look altogether. And I don’t know if this is a seasonal craving but I am really getting into jackets right now and this one, this lovely, blue one takes the cake !
I adore (and often practice myself) the combination of shick textures with casual ones: the black lace and cotton cardigan with any colourful accessorise is just perfect…
I like the ensemble very much, it makes me think of of Phi Fall 08, adapted to the street. Surely the news here is as much Ms. Tominaga’s talent as a stylist as it is her impact as a model—for example in Martin Grant’s Spring 09 show. She may be an icon but she has earned it, she’s not just “a celebrity.”

But a poster above is right.. lately your pics have featured a lot of models/famous people. While I do agree that what they wear can inspire us, I also hope you can take more pictures of ordinary people on the streets with great style when you get the chance!
color combo good. adding the grey to the black and gorgeous blue (my favorite color right now – color of my powder room, ceiling included) makes it. i’m thinking that the whole jewel toned fall trend is beautiful especially when toned down by a brown or grey. sjp is doing that trend well.
She is, of course, stunning. That is her business and she knows how to look a camera in the lens and project thru to the viewer. Apparently she is also a woman of taste who has the talent to work with color in clothing as an artist might. But what made me stop in my tracks was the frame around her-the disappearing buildings, there but fading away and the pavement beneath her feet which is reinforces the grey baggy sweater underneath. The meta message seems to be that some of us are lucky enough to find our place in the world which suits us like a setting sets off a gem.
The shot is centered up but her one leg at the diagonal gives the photo motion. A nice little exercise in composition and tone for an art class.
Later in the day, she probably spilled her tea in a carry cup while trying to schlep the baby baggage and that handbag. But for this moment she was in control…and the world and she were both beautiful.
Two things: 1) the hair is perfect. I really like the volume on one side and the length cups her face beautifully. 2) Lace is big this year; I don’t like lace. But the small amount gives a nice twist to the other textures and mood. I might have to consider the stuff after all.
That haircut is sharper than a box of razor blades
It is the absolute bomb !!
With THAT hairstyle………………….anything she wears would look good
Have to say my personal preference would be for slightly more fitted tailoring on women, but the colours are great, a perfect blend and i like the layering
A very stylish girl
But that hair !!!
It rocks like sylvester stallone and dwayne johnson in a gravel pit !

I love me some Ai please.
She is probably one of the most beautiful alien-esque women in the world.

I love her lacey sheer top underneath with the mannish teal coat and scarf. Perfect combination of feminine and masculine.

This is spot on! I love that the blue of the jacket helps to focus attention on other details like the lace and scarf. Great haircut, also.

Japanese people are always my favourites. They would look good on a bin back and they work layering better than anyone else.
