I am constantly and consistently disappointed in the Sartorialist’s lack of time for London. Of course, I do understand that you are busy and are naturally going to spend more time shooting people in NY, however, considering that you were just as present at LFW as you were at NYFW, MFW and PFW, you have not done the great city of London justice in these few photos.
London has something very special when it comes to style. It is different to everybody else. East/North London girls somehow make scruffy look amazing, and the Western Londoners do polished chic just as convincingly as Paris or Milan. But of course, it is all about this completely English eccentricity that is just so enigmatic and different about the place. People aren’t scared to be weird, in fact, it is celebrated. People aren’t scared to mix a Balenciaga bag with a skirt that cost them £3 from Oxfam. And of course, and most importantly, London people are absolute aficionados and experts of the art of layering, where we have become such experts through our ever-changing and unpredicatable weather. God bless the unpredictable weather!
As i previously mentioned, I think it is an absolute travesty that London is ‘brushed over’ on this website. Can you truly tell me that in the entirety of LFW you only got 4 worthy shots? If anyone wants to see a great spectrum of London style from fashion week, please go to http://www.facehunter.blogspot.com, or Vogue.co.uk, where you will find London style done justice.
Not to sound like a complete Judas, I do adore this blog and it is one of the 5 or 6 that I check on a daily or near-daily basis. And as an avid supporter and follower, I would think it in my interests to bring this to your attention and to hope that London receives the recognition it deserves in the future.
