Two spottings of over sized Lennon glasses and black and silver bracelets in a couple days… there is definitely something there. These are things we see in Bill Cunningham’s shots too. That’s why I love this blog, Scott’s out on the streets. I’ve seen a lot of comments lately from the people who mention they are tired of seeing the ”label hungry fashionistas” on this blog. Look at this shot. Scott sees something on the street and goes for it. It’s how people wear the pieces that make the style. You could put anything on the runway, it doesn’t mean it will necessarily turn up in the streets in the same interpretation. And as we know, designers often look to the street for inspiration.
Love it! Long skirts with boots and simple (preferably rugged) tops… that’s a classic combination. I wore outfits much like this one back in the day but wish I looked half as good as she does–all the proportions here are just right and the overall groove is cool as hell.
Hi Scott, I just wanted to say that after a pretty long absence, I’m lately starting again your blog. I’m particularly charmed and even inspired by the ‘street images’ – those men and women apparently being themselves. Also this woman: she looks so confident. However I’m a real youngster myself, I feel lately especially inspired by those who manage to be attractive because of themselves, not of their young age. Our society is obessed with age. I feel worried in a few years I won’t have a chance anymore to be ‘attractive’, to play with style, with communication, with the choice of how much of myself I want to express. I feel still so young, and I need more time to find fitting answers to all these questions. But then our society, with its magazine covers, its ads, its stock images of beuatiful, confident YOUNG men and especially women- it’s all suggesting like ‘you don’t have time, in a few years you ought to be modest, unseen, civil’. Although this woman isn’t old at all, she also isn’t a teenager anymore. But she looks like herself, like she is determined not to stop developing just b/c this soiecty is giving attention only to the young, hip, sexual beings. I like the image and the message in it! It gives me confidence.
