Keds and Boatshoes are classics. I don’t think anyone is wearing them ironically. In fact, the idea of wearing things ironically is long past. People simply wear what appeals to them, even if it does not appeal to you, apparently.
What a shame its a picture of a real living, breathing person, and not a manikin that simply exists to make a pretty picture. I like that its not some impossible poser but a person going about their day.
Hi Martine, Yes, I agree with you 100 percent. I am really liking Mr. Satorialist’s eye lately. His subjects are have been sweet, natural, and unaffected. They are not trying so hard to be fashionable, and that is exactly what makes them so memorable. I love this shot. She is a lovely young lady who is “comfortable in her own skin” and Mr. S was able to capture that essence perfectly. Keep shots like this coming, Mr. Satorialist.
PS: Mr. S., I got “Emergence” by Cynthia McAdams for my bd. I learned about her book from your post about it a while back. It is really a terrific book; I thank you for featuring it.
