They are the same in Paris as anywhere else. Your perception is different in Paris. I think the Emperor of the New Clothes probably lived in Paris.
I wouldn’t exactly say slutsville, but they are pretty naff.
It’s incredible how these skirts manage to bring a certain level of sexy while being ever so delicate and elegant. I especially love the first outfit with the shiny leather paired with the lace wich brings a nice mix of tectures.
How does the blue lace look frumpy? I mean look at te amazing blazer that she placed with the dress. If the dress was longer and she didn’t have the fitted blazer I can see it becoming frumpy looking.
I get the impression (I may be totally incorrect so sorry if I am being too judgemental !)…but the reason why she left off suitable underwear and wore that lace so daringly bare, is because otherwise it would be very mature and shapeless looking for a younger women with a good figure ( my definition of frumpy ) I agree that each item on it’s own could be worn beautifully but the combination of them does neither of the individual items justice. She took a risk and she had to go too far by leaving off the underwear in order to add the sexiness, spunk and lightness she really desired
….OR maybe the other way round ? Maybe she added the classic jacket and shoes to try and make the see- through lace look respectable. It’s a contrast that does not work for me. In the first photo the contrasting lace looks sexy , elegant and edgy and the proportions are well considered.
It was a pleasure saying hi to you today at Chanel, Scott! Your work is truly inspiring and why I am in Paris right now! I can’t get enough of how you capture fashion, but more importantly, people and their character through a photograph. Thanks and have a good fashion week!
I am decidedly NOT a lace kinda gal BUT these outfits are both fantastic, and could convert a mostly masculine edged woman into a slightly more feminine version of myself…really beautiful, especially the first shot!

i’m pretty sure anyway…
Also, I love the cool confidence of these women. you can tell when someone knows their style and is true to it, versus someone who is trying to be trendy or daring.
Beautiful skirt, I love the first pic much. The races in the second one looks so amazing but I wonder why could that lady wear it without something from inside- is it not much see-through?
1) I love rule-breaking in fashion, especially when it comes to unexpected combos … but I don’t think this really works. The jacket is just too casual and glossy compared to the delicate and sexy white lace dress or skirt underneath. However, this woman deserves an AWARD for those shoes!
2) I love the flow of this photo – the jacket and dress. The shoes are divine. She forgot to wear her leggings. Not a fan of exposed ass.
I have to disagree the dress with the jacket is the perfect tough/feminine mix.

Nice looks. But I think most of you have a wrong impression of Paris. At my time there in summer 2010 it was sometimes hard to wear even a “normal” short skirt in daytime because of harrassment and impossible around high immigrant areas like Montmartre. These lace skirts…probably only around FW in secured areas…

Hi Alicia!
I know what you mean … I like the idea of this, I personally found the jacket just overwhelms the dress. I think I would have paired the dress with a long, slouchy blazer, with the sleeve pushed up or something.
Okay, maybe not leggings for Pic 2… but with her ass hanging out? I don’t like that, either …..
