Oh wow. This is the first shot in ages that has really taken my breath away. I love how this look is at once dramatic and refined, and while being based in antiquity, is entirely applicable in a modern-day surrounding. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

She transports me to another time! The dress, the hair color, the parasol are all so strong, could be almost overpowering on their own; but she looks so at ease and they blend together so seamlessly on her. Wonderful!

This one literally made me gasp. The light on her skin is beyond lovely. It really is Madame X. Even looks like her right shoulder strap was off the shoulder and was pulled up at the last moment the same way Madame X’s was redone in the face of controversy.

This woman is so softly beautiful. I knew it was Paris before looking at the words (do they sell longer-lasting lip products? I should stock up there). I love everything about this look, including the two contrasting skirts. The garden setting adds a touch of magic. Incredible photo–yet again. I would love to paint her.
I live in Paris near the Eiffel tower, and there is a woman here who wears the most enormous and complex hats with incredible multi layered furs, and luxurious swishing clothes.
She is as ethereal as the light, she passes in a waft of glamour and perfume, and then she is gone. I have even followed her to see if I could paint or photograph her, as she is SO amazing, but I can never follow her for long, she disappears!
Do you know who I am talking about?
Have you ever seen her or photographed her?
I wonder of any of your Paris connections know her.
I often see her near Ecole Militaire.

I can’t stop coming on this blog, the photos are so beautiful. Specially a picture like this one. Everything looks perfect here, the model, the facial expression, the background…and it’s a time-travel, this photo could have been in sepia (but it would be a shame, the harmony of colours is too stunning here).

I had exactly the same impression (about Sargent). I saw other pictures of her on her website; honestly Scott, you’re the only one who makes her look like a living painting of John Singer Sargent. What a great gift you have!

This is Eve La Plume! The most famous burlesque italian performer! She actually has a very personal style which is between the Marie Antoinette period and the XIXth century . You can also feel it in her shows. She also designs her own clothes. I am not surprised to see the photo has been taken in the Jardins des Tuileries, it perfectly fits her. I must also add she is a great collectioner of antic clothes and a lover of Montmartre and Toulouse-Lautrec : you can feel this just by looking at her as she looks like from an other era :).

I love that she makes vague period references – as if from different films (but she doesn’t try for a specific period ‘look’). She makes herself modern and old at the same time. Very romantic – like she stepped out of the cutting room of a period movie studio.
