Is that a wedding band I see on his left hand? What I love about Europeans is that they stick to very classic and almost outdated trends/pieces-suede adidas sneakers being one of them. But I love that regardless, his almost unitone ensemble is so elegant and all the various shades of grey look in a sense, so clean and so fresh. And that smile…so cheeky and sexy all at the same time. Just like his outfit.
I dig his look. I wore this look to work yesterday, minus the Adidas. Nice to know I'm doing something right. I like the storefront in the background as well.
what? no ridiculous comments about the cigarette in this guys hand yet?…. he looks great kind of reminds of a modern day rat packer… he just needs a cocktail in the other hand. P.S not a smoker here just lets focus on the looks and not the vice.
well he's cute and he looks like he's nice too. His clothing is elegant and fits his thin frame. I could do with a more mature, yet casual, pair of shoes tho….
I love how he is business mixed with casual! He looks almost like a skater type man who dressed up for some reason. I LOVE it! I also like how his shoes are super worn in and look really used. check out my trendy blog! http://thetrendydwarf.blogspot.com/
Love his skinny pants. He´s dressed up on top, which I like, but for some reason I have a problem with sneakers…I know he´s dressing it down, but shoes like that just doesn't do it for me…snob?
Brilliant!! This is how my dream man dresses…stylish and relaxed but not sloppy. The icing on the cake is some great sneakers for dancing the night away.
As soon as the page loaded and his pic came up my reaction was instantly 'WHOA'. Light eyes, dark hair with bits of grey…. and the best of all, Adidas Sambas (in green!) with slim cut pin stripe trousers!!! This is what I mean by Hot! and Cool! at the same time.
Pablo Marucco from Etiqueta Negra. Every company needs a Pablo. Nice, pretty AND stylish! Damn those Brazilians, they really do have it all! Everyone should try to stop into the store; the product has a great Euro slickness with an American sensibility (and Pablo is there all the time!)
Well technically he's on Lafayette Street but suppose it's right on the border of Soho and The Bowery. A keen eye can spot the Supreme skate shop in the reflection. Those shoes need some scuffing up!
these comments are hilarious… and I can't disagree! I do wonder how the shoes look when he stands up, though, and if he get a break at all. Would like to see how this style holds up to movement.
LOVE LOVE his outfit. The shoes add the right amount of individualism. I ADORE grey in every shade anyway! He's got an irresistable smile and a gorgeous face….. Oh yeah er about the background – nice contrast with the stiff mannequins and textures.
Replace the sneakers with some well aged beeswax desert boots, throw some cuffs on the pants, recolor them a shade of blue, make the sweater a shade of gray, eliminate the shirt, throw on some vintage vaurnets… and you have my style.
i.e. more of a northern european, or californian take on his urban appearance
He is sitting in front of Etiqueta Negra great argentinian label which belogs to a famous polo player! He could be one of the shop assistants…in buenos aires they had the same style…and they were very handsome too!
I love adidas trainers, but not in this combination. And the rest of the outfit is to me a bit boring (and I'm being accused of being boring stylewise myself!).
The adidas is not Samba, and not Gazelle. I'm quite sure that's a pair of Special. I do have those in blue…
I don't mean to offend, but Schuman, you seem to be getting real lazy or at the very least playing the safe card with taking pictures of fashionable men. I'm unsure if whether it's because as winter approaches, the color scheme seems to hit a more monochromatic feel and the outfits are positioned with the ordinary coat instead of using well adverse layering with proper combination towards shades of color.
This look is a perfect example of what's wrong. Though stylish it doesn't really speak towards anything innovating except for a different outtake towards business casual. The different tones of gray is nice as is the fit, but compared to some of your previous pictures, this one isn't worth mentioning.
I'm only pointing this out because I love it whenever I see pictures of men's wardrobe breaking new heights as it is more uncommon for a man to take care in his appearance and wardrobe than a woman. Plus there isn more of a limit towards men's fashion, of course that's not always a bad thing as it does help men pay more attention to detail, but still.
This outfit sucks Scott, and I'm not quite sure why it's on here. I mean, at very best it's basic (grey pants, sweater, blah!). And then the shoes just kill it. I'm actually surprised by how bad this is.
The combination does not work for me….i like his grey sweater, the combination with that black shirt speaks of style. The seemingly flat front pine-striped trousers are a very good choice indeed…if only he chose a different pair of shoes. The sole colour does not match any other item of his cloth. Given the soles would be black, i´ll score it a ten…right now it is not more than a 4.
Respnding to Mitch above re the cigarette: you say to focus on the style, not the vice. Seems to me that the cigarette is very much part of this guy's style. I wish our beloved Sartorialist would stop elevating smoking in this way–every time he posts a photo like this, on a blog devoted completely to style, he's saying that holding a cigarette is stylish. Does he post photos of people picking their noses while wearing beautiful gray clothes?
Gray clothes, gray lungs! Is that outrageous enough for ya?
It's obviously not the mainstream view but…I don't know…sneakers not meant for actual sportsplay are the equivalent of suits never worn out or a bottle of wine never enjoyed. It just seems like a half measure, even when obviously choosen with great care to detail. It's a philosophical point, nothing to do with this guy who wears them well. Maybe it's just that the whole interest in old-style sneakers seems long past its prime.
I think you can thank (or blame) Marc Jacobs for this one. I've stood in front of the mirror with this look, but good sense (as in sensible shoes) always prevails. Still, if you are wearing vintage wool plaid pants, a light colored button up, are in your late teens or early twenties, and ride skateboards, then maybe…
Wow. I wish more men would dress like this…swap out the shoes for some converse and I'm completely sold. Definitely would make me stop on the street and stare.
i'm surprised a look so generic inspires any kind of comment at all – the best thing about this is his head. the rest of the outfit is pre-set safe and the trainers just jar for me in terms of colour and texture. could try harder.
I like his version of "business casual" (as someone above called it), but can't help wondering how the outfit would look with a different pair of shoes, for a more mature look. This young man is adorable, though, and his choice of shoe is perfect to enhance his youthful charm. P.S. What colorful thing is he sitting on?
He is very handsome and I love his syle! It is very casual, informal and yet, elegant! Now, just a small thought: With this outfit, he seems to me that he was going to see art in a gallery or in a museum. And I must say he is very look like to a guy who sent me an email from a social network… is this pic you?
Lose the shoes. Ducktail trousers aren't bad. Shirt collar and vee of jersey aren't happy. Jersey sleeves are a poor contrast to the uncluttered lines of rest of ensemble.
i love the grown-up-im-at-work outfit with the im-still-a-kid-at-heart shoes. and the contrasting pin striping and stripes of the sneakers. everything is in balance.
In response to some critisizing comments: I don't think the Sartorialist is always about photography the perfect most innovative fashion looks. Sometimes he photographs people becuase they interest him, the person and face in the photo, not just the clothes. This guy is so handsome! Future husband right here. http://www.bisoumode.blogspot.com

This caught my attention immediately. I want this outfit.
Love the semi-formal nature of the entire outfit, perfectly contrasted with the vintage Adidas sneakers.
Love the mixture of grays, and the pinstripe in the pants is great for the texture.

Thanks!
Katya

I like his version of "business casual" (as someone above called it), but can't help wondering how the outfit would look with a different pair of shoes, for a more mature look. This young man is adorable, though, and his choice of shoe is perfect to enhance his youthful charm.
