We (the swedes) have been wearing converse shoes with anything going anywhere for a while now. It’s crazy, you’ll go out clubbing and you see men in smart suits and women in stunning maxi dresses, and they are all wearing it with worn out converse sneakers!
Love it! This is how I perceive my style, which I like to think of as ‘off-duty surf[er]‘, but I wonder how others would describe this style. Bohemian? Urban bohemian?
This is the kind of picture that I always like. The figure of a woman reading a book, it’s romantic.
I like that long braid that she has, her long open jersey, and the lace at the bottom of the skirt.
As always inspiring and I can always get ideas when composing my wardrobe.
I really wanted to like this look, but the lace border on the skirt ruins it for me. It would be SO much better without. Love the long sweater and her colorful bag.
how do you catch the most unique feelings from every person you choose in your photography? I love her outfit… it is so original! I love her dedication to the pages from her book… and I love the place behind, which seems to be some quiet corner in the middle of the noisy town. Just great!
Love the whole combo, not many can venture out to wear such a combination. Definitely not me, but it looks very cool on the others…Btw, I got your book at the Strand Bookstore in NYC…Loving it, meant to get it for a while!
She’s awesome! It looks as though she just grabbed some of this, add that, yet it all works. Dig the vintage bag – little coin purses made of that same type of ‘material’ always fascinated me as a kid – neat tactile contrast to the whole.
I bet she never expected to be photographed for a fashion blog! I like the graffiti squiggle on the wall behind her, it is a perfect off-set to her t-shirt and sneakers. You are the master of subtle composition. The braid is cool and not many carry make it work–she does.
What most won’t know about this shot is that the girl is sitting in front of Lisbeth Salandar’s (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) 7-11 in Södermalm. Many great things to see and do in the city. See you in just a few short weeks Stockholm! Can’t wait to see more shots this week from the Sartorialist in STHLM in the meantime.
I like this one as well.
I remember I was strolling through the streets of Stockholm…it’s such a nice city. And the sun is always shining bright in the summer!
This is pretty much exactly how I dressed when I was 14 and 15 years old, in the mid-90′s. Bun, braids, or wrapped-around braid as shown here; fitted, vintage tee; quirky, thrift-store maxi skirt; cross-body hobo bag; and Chuck Taylors, Converse One-Stars, or Vans. And I’m sure I always had some sort of book with me. It’s so strange for me to see it as someone’s current look! :)
Her style is growing on me. She mixes so many different styles and things that they become one style. Just brilliant! As a Finn I always admire the taste of the Swedes!
I love the faded I <3 NY shirt. Apparently she really loves it a lot if she wears it that much. Or not at all, if she doesn't take care of the shirt, depends on how one chooses to see this…
I’m actually really sick of Converse shoes. Like Mon&Me said, everyone in Sweden wears them all the time, with anything! But I gotta say, I love her hair! http://whatisthenewblack.blogspot.com/
ahhwww ..thats my friend Linn Tabudlong she is a very hipp new singer/songwriter in Sweden. She is in a band called “Little marbles”..look them up they are very talanted!!and she has a very expressive, beautiful and interesting way of dressing!!cutiepie girl;)
I can’t help but feel like that ultra-faded T-shirt actually says “I have nothing but the blankest of feelings where New York is concerned” in an overly loud and dramatic voice. Whistling in the dark. It almost looks like she faded the heart on purpose, without fading the letters so much.
The story my mind concocts involves a once treasured lover, a madcap trip to New York where she bought the shirt, and heartbreak. She looks sad, and it makes the story. Your photographs are always so compelling.
Adorable. I could never say anything bad about an outfit that starts with Converse. But this is especially good. i love the skirt and of course the shirt.
She’s pretty, but dressed in such poor taste.
I hope that she’s reading some kind of a guide book on how to dress properly. Once she does that, the worried look in her face will vanish

I think the look is very playful and funny, BUT it doesn’t work for me.
It’s a bit too ‘youth-ish’, and it seems as there is no thought behind the outfit.
I do love her hair though, that braid is amazing (if it’s her own hair)!
