Legs like that girl on the left will make just about any outfit work, but the purse seems disproportionately large in comparison, unless of course she's carrying an entire octuplet litter of color-coordinated white kittens.
A great informal shot.. I always like seeing 'behind the camera' at how it all works! The composition of the photo is perfect- and both the outfits are gorgeous.
Even in her gestures and stance, Garance exudes charm! I love seeing pictures like this. Streetstyle pictures can sometimes seem distant and voyeuristic, so it's nice to see a photographer embodying the same glamour she celebrates.
Our dear Garance looks like a ballerina in her swirly skirt, leopard ballet flats and her superb dancer's legs! You are one lucky man, Scott, but I'm sure you know that already…
Scott, I have a plan and I need your help, the plan is that while you distract Garance, I can steal those animal prints flats and that beautiful skirt!! :D Great photo!!! I love that you share photos of each other on your blogs
wow. the brick buildings in NYC are such great backdrops when it comes to street style photos. it's like New York itself plays a character in every photo.
This picture is just amazing – I love how Garance holds her large bag as if it is feather light and how her right foot is casually resting on the other one as if she's having a casual chat with an old friend. The two girls are different but is it not the models beauty that makes this picture – it's all about Garance's relaxed confidence. And then the colors, the red bricks, Garance's flatter than flat flats. One for your next book.
I think the best thing about this picture is the mirrored body language and style – leaning against the wall with one knee bent, big bags, hair scraped back (the bun on top of the head, i brought it back from paris and have been complimented on it ever since!) – it feels like these two women could just be two friends having a cigarette outside or something…yet one of them's holding a camera! It's no wonder everyone feels such affinity with Garance (like I can even use her first name just like that, because I read her blog, and therefore have a personal relationship with her…); it's not just about the model connecting with the photographer to give them inspiration, but the photographer's personality and character can inspire a particular mood in the model – I can easily imagine what we'd see in the model's eyes if we were looking at her from behind the camera. Garance clearly feels so comfortable and confident in her own skin, this is a beautifully real picture…
I like this picture a lot, I always love pictures of someone taking pictures :) Someone else said it before, but I also love the Style of Garance, totally international and her own, not typically French at all. I love the colors she use, plain, classic clothes with a little twist ( i.e the ballerinas in this pic )
I love this. Made me smile. It's great to see a feeling of camaraderie and mutual respect between two very talented people at the top of their games. I like the difference in opinion. Garance's work seems more investigative, more about what she sees and what she teases out of her subjects whereby here its more about drawing your own conclusion, about documenting a moment. The rules of composition are still relevant in both cases but the motives different. Anyway, that's just my humble opinion! Both treatments equally valid, mind you.
This image says a lot. The photographer as subject. Not new as an idea but the fact that it's shot by someone who records dress codes it then becomes quite interesting. Also, are we just watching Garance at work? Do we comment on what she's wearing? I think it's quite an important photograph.
i used to have that christopher kane for topshop eyelet bag. it's covered in tiny round mirrors- just gorgeous. unfortunately, at least ten of the mirrors fell off within the first week. : ( so tragic. the death of a beautiful soft leather bag in a perfect shape.
I like the girl with the camera, i think she looks wonderful.
The girl in the off-white dress is really disturbing me though, the bag is far to large, it's swallowing her, and the boots are absolutely terrible. the only thing i do like about her, is the dress and her hair.
