I really like her outfit, and the beautiful light. But I absolutely love the clean white shoes and purse. Especially those slip on shoes.

I’m curious, because the fabric is what really appeals to me – some kind of loose weave linen with an easy drape – young and carefree to wear, yet calls to the natural colors and textures of an old city. Why depressing?

I wonder if fabric was added to the skirt to push the outfit to better cover someone her age? I would not have worn this cheerleading getup in my teens even with a tee underneath. I’ve made mistakes. and personal style is nice & human and not plastic, but, What Not To Wear could be utilized here. just sayin’.

Maybe open up your mind to the possibilities a bit more then they do on shows such as “what not to wear”. After all, if people did listen to the clintons and timm guns of this world it would be boring, and fashion would never change at all. We would all be wearing mid rise dark wash jeans with a slight flare and a fitted shirt or a knee length wrap dress and fitted jacket. Thats all they seem to understand. their advice is far from good.
I think there is nothing even a tiny bit cheerleader or young woman in this outfit. the contrary it looks very grown up and interesting.

Fantastic! The lighting and background are amazing, but I really like that she is wearing loafers with such a feminine outfit. It’s a great play on contrasts! The glasses give the whole thing a kooky and modern spin. Really, really great!

I like her shoes and her hair and her shades. The dress looks terrible. It only goes somehow on her as she is a very beautiful slim woman. Put this on someone ordinary looking and it would look like a bag lady. This looks like something you’ve made on 3rd grade in elementary school. Even worse than the skinny italian lady in her cut offs earlier.

I really agree. I don’t think I can remember an outfit on Sartorialist that I have found as ugly as this one. I hate the cut off top and the unflattering stretch of midriff breaking up the line of her figure – the pushed up cleavage is unsubtle, the shoes are clumpy. Imagine that this outfit h was not posed and beautifully lit but walking towards you – I think most people would agree that it’s pretty unflattering.

Agree for the most part – that “push-up” cleavage is the first thing that I saw. It is awful.
I would love the look (with a normal bra) if it was a one-piece dress. I am partial to linen or similar textures !

I happen to absolutely adore the whole high waist to hide the belly button with a crooed matching top like this outfit, and I am glad to see it more and more often. I think its very sexy, and very demure. As for the cleavage, absolutely nothing disgusting about that. I imagine it just depends on your opinion. Many people obviously find it fashionable and pretty. Notice the many favorable posts.
Of course some people will not like it. But thats true of anything.

The lighting is amazing, but not a fan of this outfit..The cropped top does not work. The proportions are awkward and the shape of the skirt is unflattering.

I like almost everything about this photo–the lighting, her posture, hair, sunglasses, but the ensemble doesn’t work for me. Too acid washy? Don’t like the cut of the top and the midriff exposure.

I like the grey and white together and also the fabric that seems to be linen. I love the loafers and clutch, 2 accessories I wore so much a long time ago that I could still wear today as they are classics.
As for the outfit, only a young woman could (and should) wear it.
I like the bustling and blurry background. It makes me think of a movie set.

Now THAT is the way to wear a crop top. Of course you have to have a mile of midriff to do it, but it’s not for everyone. Love the linen – and the attitude.

That fabric could be silk. Matka or tussah is made using raw silk and gives the appearance of linen whilst having more drape to it and creases drop out as opposed to having to iron them. Has a nice lustre to it too

I’m kind of confused by this look. I keep on examining it. I sort of like it and I sort of don’t, but I have a feeling that that has more to do with the atmosphere of the photo. I do like the shoes and the clutch, and the fabric I find intriguing. I think it’s the push-up cleavage that is bothering me – without that this would be pretty (the cleavage veers it surprisingly into poor taste). I’m not crazy about the midriff thing either, but I could live with that if the fit were a bit more elegant above.

I think she looks like she took the living-room courtains and made this outfit to look like her cheer-leader daughter? The push-up bra makes her look cheap, either.

I normally hate a wrapped-up-in-denim look, but this one is alright because of the color and/or style of shoes, clutch, glasses, and hair. If I would see that top and skirt on a rack, I would definitely set them on fire and dance around their burning state. Overall, it is a very casual outfit and I don’t think it necessary suits her age. Nevertheless, somehow she made it work. It is giving a ‘summer weekend in Europe’ vibe which is relaxing.

I absolutely love how lady like this look is. Its so very fifties and coy, but it shows a bit of stomach. Its just wonderful to see. I bought a similar outfit, and I wore it out once. Everyone loved it! The problem is now if I wear it again, everyone will have remembered it from before. But the whole two piece dress thing just works so perfectly.
