It’s so interesting, the effect clothes have on each other. Â It can make pieces uniquely yours because they are the result of your specific lifestyle. Â If great style is a reflection of the person, than to me this is a great expression of personal style.

You can tell that this is more than likely his *go to* outfit, and he obviously loves that belt.. This is an awesome display of fashion at it’s finest..he knows the holes are there, and he loves them just as much as the belt he refuses to stop wearing that creates them..

Many of my shirts (even nice dress shirts, polos, & sweaters) have holes rubbed into them on the right side towards the back.
Why? Because I carry a concealed firearm on a daily basis.
I’ve “ruined” some very nice clothes that way, but I’d imagine it’s a very unique fashion problem to have.

My studded belt wore through many a shirt in my skateboarding days. All it takes is one little fall. Most of my friends had stud scratches on their cars from all of us leaning on them :)

I view/read your blog daily – and have gone through the archives as well -and I never think to comment. Your photographs are indeed interesting and consistently deliver. You have enough people commenting and I think that what I may have to say is not terribly important to you or anyone. But this shot. This shot. To me not so much about the belt worn through the clothing and his “look” but the human body used functionally and the beauty and vitality of that. The smooth slope of the arms with muscles comfortably tense and activated. The easy, soft, well-worn and loose fit of the t-shirt and the slight bag in the seat of the pants show clothes well used, functional, and draped around the fit body; and extension of him. Evocative and wonderful. So if you ever read these…my thoughts, for whatever they are worth.

“Its my favourite black t-shirt and I’m not going to stop wearing it until it disintergrates” … got to love that.
Long time ago had a treasured classic Levis denim jacket; every time I wore it I enjoyed it so much because it always seemed to be on the verge of literally falling apart (and of course that would be the last wear). One day took a chance and very carefully hand washed it and put it outside in the back garden of my apartment block to dry in the sun, and guess what happened – some complete heel stole it … I cried like a baby! Could the thief have ever loved it like I did?

This is real living, real fashion!!
From my first pair of Vans that were literally in tatters, I couldn’t part with them at the ripe old age of 10. Now, some decades on the same sensation is had with my brogues. People ask how I got them to look the way they are and where they can buy them. It’ simple people!! Vintage isn’t a label, it’s the life long journey of something, and it can’t be bought. Wear them in and wear them out, become one with those special pieces. Metta.
