Beautiful! And I support all the efforts to make NY a bike-friendly city. I don’t live there but my son does and he rides his all over Brooklyn and NYC, carrying his trumpet.
Lol! I wasn’t at fashion week but my thanks for transportation to my early 1990′s (no shocks-very old school) mountain bike! Still runs great after 20 years and many miles.
Huffy? I enjoy your blog, style and mode of transport but HUFFY? SO many stylish choices available! It’s a critical accessory! Look at all your European bicycle photos. They don’t ride cheesy bikes. You need better wheels. And a good lock. Done with rant.
Huffy and Schwinn make a nice couple! Why are people criticizing these lovely wheeled steeds? There is nothing sillier than form over function when it comes to bikes. These two lovelies pictured have a beauty in their dedication to duty and allegiance to rider!! And a fine collection of safety gear on both! There is also nothing finer than a nice big basket!
@reigs. The Pashley bikes are an excellent choice. Brooks saddles. Classic English styling. Sart would look amazing on several of them. There are so many interesting bike makers out there – the bicycle equivalent of having bespoke shoes or a tailor made suit.
An odd memory – Literally the first day I drove a van with my things into NYC from Chicago, my rearview mirror JUST missed braining George Plimpton who was buzzing around the UES on his English 3-speed. Talk about a brush with fame!
Biking all over the city is sublime and when you have a friend who enjoys the pleasure of biking, well, that is nice, too. Let us bring this car culture to its knees, if only by photographing bikes.
@AnthonyC. George Plimpton! Wow! Yes I agree The Sart would look pretty classy on a Pashley, perhaps in a Barbour with brogues and just the right socks? :-)
this anthonyC chap is right…. your huffy doesn’t suit you…. but i say neither do his suggestions…. build the bike yourself, but avoid the obvious (brooks saddle) buy an old chicago schwinn
I ride all over the Twin Cities on a mid-70s Huffy 3-speed, year round, often in a dress and heels. The good health and happiness that comes from riding a bicycle enhances style!
THANK YOU! Thanks for riding a bike. And publishing that fact. And looking and being fabulous while doing so. And sharing others whom you spot pedaling around and looking poised and pretty to boot. I am a cycle commuter in Austin, TX and we pride ourselves on riding stylishly over here as well….We have way more heat and sweat to be concerned with, but no bother.
Ride on!!!

you guys desperately need better bikes. the schwinn is maybe ok (but not necessarily), but huffy? yikes. terrible quality bike. sorry, i’m a bike quality snob. if the purpose is function over form, then these bikes definitely fail. :o

Funny…I got a cab right outside Exit Space (with Skylight West just across the street) with two events going on in both places simultaneously.
P.S. Trashing my old Walmart special for a new 3 speed cruiser soon.
