Love this look – and the light. Pretty much says Fall/Autumn to me :) I have a poncho that I wear when I’m cwtched up on the sofa but think I need to take it out sometime.
Glad to see her wearing the poncho/serape. Native American patterns are beautiful on certain pieces of clothing without looking OTT. I have bought several blankets from Pendleton Mills in Oregon and made them into short jackets.
Love this look! The poncho is beautiful and I really like the boots. Lived in New Mexico for many years and seeing this look is not unusual…but on the streets of NYC? Nice surprise. It’s quite pleasant seeing the warmth and laid back attitude of the SW here!
I’m so glad ponchos are getting a little attention right now. They’re warm alternatives to a jacket or coat and give much more material real-estate to showcase a print like this southwestern one we see above. This photo makes me want to watch Eastwood’s spaghetti westerns!
Look on the right and see the deconstructed jacket front.
I am pretty sure it’s one of Rei Kawakubo’s Blanket Trenches for Comme De Garcons, or a artful knockoff.
See, like this: http://tinyurl.com/7mfqw2o
Right?
Something made Claire turn and look. Maybe it was that faculty everyone has to some degree; the one that makes hairs on the back of the neck stand up when someone’s staring. But something made her look, and there he was. He was too early. Now what was she going to do?
She’d done everything right, putting together a look that was over the top in just the right ways, and yet not out of place in a city like New York. Poncho? Check. Leggings that were fit close but didn’t look painted on? Check. Practical boots with heels that gave shape to the leg but still allowed fast maneuvers? Check. The only thing missing was the van with Tim and Phil in the back.
Now all she had to do was keep his attention for a few moments. After all, it wasn’t every day she got hired to kidnap a man and deliver him to his own wedding.
I would love to see boots wooden heels that can take a battering and have a whakapapa history to them, particularly worn in with a woven poncho, sort of keeps it real and honest.
What a beautiful photo. The light and colours are gorgeous. The yellow cabs are orange!
I want that poncho, I want to go out for dinner in NY, but mostly I want those shoes!
I love this – her attitude, her poncho, the light – so timeless and soulful. But, sorry! I don’t like the shoes in this shot, they look too ‘now’ and over-fashiony. I adore her spirit though. She is powerful and beautiful.
