What an amazing smile!! I moved a few months ago from SF to Paris, and one of the things I miss the most is smiles – it is a rare thing to see a smile on a person walking down the street, laughter for that matter as well. She looks carefree and excited for her journey – and adorable in that funky hat! Great shot!
Just curious. I have a question for the commenters. What is your opinion on smiling? I am not opposed to smiles. Smiles are lovely. Smiles may also be personal reflections of a state of being. Therefore, it sometimes creeps me out when smiles are solicited in such a way as to demand someone smile for the camera. However, such demands do occur and can engender favorable results – and maybe even benefits that are greater than an attractive photo. What I find interesting about commenters who write about the smile on the face of someone who is being photographed is that often their comments seem to suggest that a smile is for the sole pleasure of the viewer. In these instances sometimes the comments come across as solicitous. Isn’t a smile reflective of an emotion? Or perhaps a smile is a reaction to something.
Photographer captured what appears to be a very happy, nice and fun loving young woman who seems to be about to embark on an adventure. I wish we could all join her, that is with her permission. mr. john
Its definitely a classic look. Made especially good by the super coat, and the wonderful smile, and the cute, cute way she is sitting on her trunk. I do that when I travel, so its even better then good. Obviously, I don’t look quite that amazing.
Say, excuse the pun, but I must say (really, couldn’t resist) that your comment caused me to muse on a smile:
I once wrote to a loved one:
“for your smile, I’ll walk across a broken glass mile”.
A soul shines through in a smile, methinks.
I LOVE this photo. you can tell this girl is very happy in life !!! I adore New York and everything about it. I would be smiling too if I were there. Her smile is amazing :) Her style is so beautiful. xxx
