On the Street…….Corso Magenta, Milan

There is just something about these Milanese gentleman and their bikes that brings the Sartorialist out in them.

The whole Gentleman Farmer look is fantastic.

The beautiful honey colored gloves really finish off the look perfectly

This is easily and beautifully composed. Everything is of a piece–including the beard–with out self-consciousness or strain.

I love this simple, warm look. I wish the pants were a different shade or darker, but they are nice anyway.

Absolutely LOVE the beard! So european… just finishes off the look brilliantly! He seems like the type of man to have a nice conversation with.

Actually, I love his jacket. He is a dapper dresser, to say the least. But is it functional? Can you ride a bicycle confortably in that outfit?

New Yorkers don’t dress like this at all, especially if he is on a bicycle. Could it be because we have a less formal dress code? Or maybe we prefer to dress more comfortably?

Nonetheless, I love that look. We should all grow old so gracefully.

I bet there’s a very talented Elven tailor out there somewhere, proudly reading this blog entry. If so, kudos to him.

    Ahh, that’s lovely!

I wandered over here from a knitting blog, and do admire your love for your clothes and subjects. I also appreciate the universality of making a look your own, and I’ve made a promise to risk more fashion wise.

Love the interviews with designers, and appreciate the fact that you have a background in business and design. It’s like being steered through the maze of fashion with a knowledgeable guide. I’ve learnt loads just by cruising your site.

    Will be coming back soon!

You’ve made my weekend with your sequence of Sunday posts – the bearded gentleman reminds me of my father (except for the hat & bike this is his doppelganger), the double dose of blue reminds me of the spring that’ll arrive here eventually (now I want that scarf too), the Milanese typography reminds me of the beauty of Italian cities (yay to the idea of including signgage as street style) and the Doyle photos are a revelation. Thank you for this wealth of inspiration!

to nyc fachionista: As one having grown up in Europe – doing all my commuting on a bike – you wear whatever you want to wear! You do not put on “special” clothes to go on your bike since you go on your bike to go wherever you need to go!
I think he looks wonderful by the way.
