So sharp and well-tailored. The sunglasses are minimal and on-point. But the pairing of the striped orange shirt with the camo cargo pants is something I haven’t seen. And that fan is very fun! If I had to pick, I like #1 the most.
Is it the same person? They look a bit like each other, but on the other hand, not. Love the first picture! Looking away, with his sunglasses & the suite. And on the second picture, with the little detail.
The dude can rock casual chic! Top picture has a Clooney in Lake Como vibe: bottom has that boho Peter Beard in Africa look. Either way, these are cool summer looks….gentlemen, take note!
White shirt+light taupe suit+round sunglasses=elegance.
On the second photo, great color combo with the shirt and the fan, but the camo pants ? Not a fan.
The contrast is huge so a comparison is almost impossible. The first look screams elegence and the other casualty. But I do prefer a more tailored look (especially when paired with cool vintage sunglasses) because it reminds me of gentlemen.
#1: he is swoon-worthy perfection, and it seems effortless.
#2: although interesting, it looks like he’s trying tooooo hard.
otherwise: brilliant, as ever, capturing the various facets of the same individual… even if it does make me wonder if he is a mild fashion schizophrenic.
For me, the first guy is nearly perfect. Every detail is just right…nice lapel, interesting white shirt, pocket square, great hair, nice glasses, etc. The second guy looks like Willem DaFoe cross dressing between Platoon and Miss Saigon. If you look like an escapee from a spoof movie set, you’re trying too hard. But, he does have guts.
I never wear shorts in the city. Shorts are for doing something active, not walking around with your man fan. And camo shorts have even fewer legitimate uses. I think the point is demonstrated aptly here.
I would say that the top photo is the what society expects of you at a certain age, While the bottom photo is a man who is CLEARLY accustomed to doing whatever the hell he wants.
The concept of “rebel” is almost required of the young…but those same kids are expected to give up the ‘phase’ when they grow older….baaah.
I like older people who can rock out with their c*ck out.
Incredible is Man no:1
Man no:2 has a certain twinkle about him, would prefer plain khaki bottoms, love that shirt, he looks fun, reminds me of a mature Jacques Brel (if he was still with us).
Two men,–one sober, the other almost impish–each beautiful in his own way. But although I admire the manner in which the second man workss his shirt with his camo pants, I prefer the man in the top photo. Because I love a mandarin collar–if for no other reason than it’s a great excuse to skip the ubiquitous tie.
Mr. No 1 is heavenly. That white shirt and the neutral poplin suit are perfect together. Jacket is interesting with a slightly western look about the pocket.
This is how I like my husband to dress. He has some collarless shirts left over from his days in court and still wears them in the summer like this.
Wow! Two very different approaches to personal style yet they look equally appealing to me – and equally masculine! Even with floral fan in hand he’s pulling it off! I am really digging the older men these days… HOT!
I would never ever wear number 2 but he looks damn good to be honest, I would certainly look at him in awe but would never try it. Number one is something I would aspire to look like. It’s a different approach to aging well.

A tan suit that is well fitting, paired with a nice white shirt is also classic, but not so much different than what i see daily in any well dressed city in the summer months.
No, these are not photographs of the same guy! Look at the length of hair: #1 short cropped all over, #2 much longer. And while it’s difficult to tell exactly from this angle, it does appear that #2′s sideburns have a reverse taper (Like…Mr. Spock?). #1′s sideburns are traditional.
The first shot is the winner for me–cool, sophisticated, confident. And the khaki suit and white shirt work very well with his gray hair, making him actually look younger. That pocket kerchief is a great detail to finish off his look.
Look 1 scores a 10, handsdown! He is handsomely stunning in that suit with the fresh, clean white accents! However, Look 2 scores a meager 4, and that’s pushing it in my books! Camouflage isn’t something that can pulled off so easy, and the moment you pair it with men’s cargo shorts, you enter dangerous grounds! I can appreciate attempting to mix and match vibrant colors and patterns, but this look is not doing the mix-and-match ANY justice! The grey-orange button down is a nice piece in itself, but it’s beauty is utterly taken away by the combination with the shorts. Shall I mention the fan???
Oh my goodness, the first man really is the definition of a silver fox, but I have to admit that I love the second man’s outgoing sense of style. Both are absolutely amazing shots!!
Do people actually think it is the same guy?! Weird. He has a different face, different lips, different ears, different hairline. The second gentleman….just too good. The acme of femininity is a fan, camouflage shorts are the very embodiment of a gritty masculine ideal. He has taken two stereotypes and demolished them!
A man with a fan! It makes me all aflutter! (And btw, fans aren’t strictly feminine – men use them in Spain, and the Japanese have tessenjustu, the martial art of the war fan.)
Well, there is fashion and there is style and both gents have both qualities.
