Your blog's been an inspiration to me (and I'll guess many other readers). I've decided to walk down the streets of Toronto and take photos of stylish folks, Sartorialist-style :) Here's today's post
Great earth tones Digging the hat too! The bag could use a bit of work though (the hat should have been a dark brown to bridge the whole outfit-the sweater should stand by itself as contrast). All in all a very comfortable look. Genius shot, Sart!!
Great earth tones Digging the hat too! The bag could use a bit of work though (the hat should have been a dark brown to bridge the whole outfit-the sweater should stand by itself as contrast). All in all a very comfortable look. Genius shot, Sart!!
I LOVE the jacket, shoes and bag! Anybody know where I could get the jacket? Gotta have it! Oh and don't apologize for being heavy on mens photos I love 'em! johnbenjaminpritchett.blogspot.com
You have not been heavy enough considering we have just had 3 weeks of Men's Fashion weeks bypass. More from Pitti Uomo. This is a great use of color combining. Perhaps an Homage to ETRO and Kenzo.
It's not the first time you show us that gentleman, I believe. Still, I love the pattern in his raincoat and the hat is just lovely! :) The colour scheme is actually similar to the photo you posted before this one.
I love his coat – the coloring, the cut, the jaunty way that he wears it, and the paisley print. I also like the framing of the photo, with the stairs and the building.
Please, please, please, keep the men's pics: this is what makes your blog so different and IMVHO one of the best. There is enough women's fashion going around!
I like that there is even more orange & brown than I first thought…
Frock coat is charming, and the shoes look like they have been dipped in cocoa. So far so great. The rest isn't doing much for me, but so long as he's happy! Incidentally, he doesn't look happy. beingmanly: On shoes
I actually wish you had MORE men's photos. I like to think of your blog as a look book. Being a man that means the women's photos, while lovely, don't suit my purposes at all. :)
Truly a stunning photo. Yes – the guy is impeccably turned out. But the photo is, in and of itself, a beauty! The geometry in the background makes it powerful to me.
AMAZING! to say the least. This is well balanced and put together- all the right elements…..nice color contrasts and selection. The coat & the shoes really seals the deal for me… And the photography is great as well – nice background…… Damn. everything is great here…lol
I love the composition of this shot. The light from an overcast day is perfect for the warm colours/patterns he is wearing and the metallic horizontal lines are right too.
that bag is evil and must be destroyed – i'm thinking the brilliant coat is custom as well – thanks for all the men's shots – i'm finding them entirely valuable and inspiring
no worries about guy photos, in fact, i really enjoy seeing guys in their own personalized styles!
his coat is awesome and he has a very unique style. he sure knows how to dress! can't wait to see the pictures from NY fashion week. can almost imagine how fab they'd be!
I want that coat!!!! Why do men in general smile less than women in the fashion photo's??? Any one have any thoughts on that one?? Why not take photo's of men Scott they have just as much fashion sense as women and often are so over looked in market of fashion…
Okay, this makes four. I love them all, and would give it all to see these photographs hanging next to each other in a gallery. What a lovely group of guys; different age, size, and look… but a continuity to these photos that is seamless. I love these pictures. On to fashion week, can't wait. You rock our world Scott!
Don't apologize for posting loads of pics of stylish men. They're lovely and inspirational! I love this guy's shoes and the previous gentleman's coat/scarf combo. Gorgeous!
WHERE ? Could we find the COAT ? Magnifique !!! Please could you tell us ??? Gorgeous photos this one and these guys with shawls ! Many thanks … I am a girl <I wish to have this terrific coat !!! Sunny Side
My goodness, what a satisfying, masterly look that is. He offsets the flamboyant, dandy-esque jacket with these beige and gray (trousers) tones very coolly, and then adds the golden/bronze-olive manbag. I particularly love how the grey trousers, the golden of the bag and even the shoes don't match exactly with the rest. It's not too contrived and really works better than anything that would've been.
That stair is very interesting, where was the picture taken???? It works so well as a backgroung and the materials and colours add texture in a quiet and unique way.
Thanks God! I want to see / contemplate some photos from my beloved NYC streets… Parisians, yeah, Roman's, Milenese, Florence people – yeah! BUT IN NO OTHER PLACE IN THE WHOLE WORLD PEOPLE ARE SO WONDERFULLY DRESSED AS in a BIG APPLE houk!!!
Japanese people seem to have the right "look from the distance" on European clothes ! Always a touch of Kimono in the details – this time the pattern of the coat, another time a draped scarf or pullover, a short trouser, astonishing colour combinations and so on. Wonderful !
Something tells me that every redhead in the universe who sees this picture will desperately want this coat. And many redheads-at-heart, too!
Beautiful picture. I love your menswear photos. I think, when it comes to having a truly original style, men have it tougher than women do: They have to work a little harder and be a little braver. I love seeing how the small, seemingly random choices a guy makes here and there — say, the number of inches of shirt cuff he allows to peek out from the sleeve of a jacket — can make a big difference.
So: More men, not fewer! (Though I of course love the women's photos too.)
brown and orange photos are great. men are great. dont ever stop documenting them. what i love is that its men from a mans eye, and i must say you manage to capture a beautiful sensitivity. i have really enjoyed the recent posts, because of this. I think what you are sharing is more important than people may realise, fashion is so much more than just fashion. I also like these images because they are not frothy or macho, rather, they are strong and gentle and so necessary
Au contriare! You can NEVER have enough photos of well dressed fashion foward and classically stylish men! I'll be leaving today to check out Fashion Week in NYC. Keep it up, this stuff is great!
Wonderful attempt, close but with some tweaking this overall look can be greatly improved. Kudos the woman who spotted the exactly the wrong hat…I recommend a wider brim less casual crown, a Borsalino of Italy has many that would stun the audience.
consider the man's body type, shoulder width, more rounded cranium. I have a few more criteria.
If ever in doubt visit Hatbox: A Modern Haberdashery. I'm Lauri Turner 36 years in the business, I always enjoy working with people who care about hats! Hatbox.com Austin,Texas.
I love the jacket too but you should see the material on my nine year old couch, even better(NOT JOKING. Of course the print is on a diffent fabric but the color and design are exactly the same. If I saw him on the street I may have yelled, "Hey, bring ring back my couch!" I do love it though.

It's not too contrived and really works better than anything that would've been.

brown and orange photos are great. men are great. dont ever stop documenting them. what i love is that its men from a mans eye, and i must say you manage to capture a beautiful sensitivity. i have really enjoyed the recent posts, because of this. I think what you are sharing is more important than people may realise, fashion is so much more than just fashion. I also like these images because they are not frothy or macho, rather, they are strong and gentle and so necessary

For some reason, this keeps reminding me of Will Smith's inside-out uniform jacket from the Fresh Prince:

Very chic, great pic..the only fault i find is the buttons on the coat…a mother of pearl honey would be fab…

Great coat! Menswear designers take note: Men are more likely to wear a "wildly" patterned coat than a wildly patterned suit.

I love the jacket too but you should see the material on my nine year old couch, even better(NOT JOKING.
Of course the print is on a diffent fabric but the color and design are exactly the same.
If I saw him on the street I may have yelled, "Hey, bring ring back my couch!" I do love it though.

What a fantastic jacket – love the continuation of the colour in his shoes.
