If Ralph Lauren’s RR Ranch had a left over teepee, it would be this dress. The idea is that you go to a tailor, pick out shirting fabric, and then – viola – someone actually cut and sews it so that it fits the body in a flattering way. Once , as a young boy, I tried on my father’s pajamas and it looked – and fit – a heck of a lot better than this. Yes the girl is a hot – but a hot mess in this particular outfit. Scott, perhaps you’ll delete this post as well – but you’re chronicling not the fashion of major cities, but the un-fashion. You often photograph beautiful people who think that they can wear anything at all because they’re so, well, beautiful. Well, they simply cannot.
hmm. i actually really like this dress, though i do think it might be more flattering if the heavy stripes were vertical instead of horizontal. but still. i definitely wouldn’t place this in the category of people who think they can wear anything at all.
honestly?..that’s just a wild and crazy combo–no matter how you look at it!! reminds me when I was a girl and at night slipped on my dad’s work boots by the front door to run outside….what for, I can’t remember……!
That dress is really nice! It has the perfect summer-into-fall vibe.
To my eye, a pair of cuffed wooly socks peeking up an inch or so above the tops of the boots would make the proportions of the whole look just right.
Yeah…when I saw that dress on the Brooks Brothers Black Fleece website, I suspected that it would look like Paul Bunyan’s nightshirt IRL. Based on this picture, looks like my suspicions were spot on. Not that there is anything wrong with wearing a lumberjack’s cozy night clothes as a fashion statement, though! Kewl?
