If the man in the photo was the president of the Cleaned Shaved Men of the World Club, then the facial hair might be ironic. Otherwise, stop using this term already.
Yes, I agree. If you are looking for “ironic” in style, then you are going to be just that when it comes to art and style. Be authentic and you see authentic. Be ironic, see ironic.
Wow. That is one seriously intense gaze (and striking man).
I really like the way you interweave portraits and style shots on this site… both tell us something about the subjects, just in different ways.
Oh first time I see Justin O’Shea without sunglasses, so I’m just like “oooh that’s how he looks like without sunglasses”. It’s interesting to see how one item can change a person. His gaze is very intense and he looks so serious, whereas with his sunglasses on he looks like the cool stylish guy or the cool hipster. Anyway I prefer people whom eyes I can, because it helps figure out who is the person more easily, obviously I’m not saying that you can read people just by watching their eyes but seeing a face person and eyes always give you a first impression.

This, I suppose, is the standard of male beauty today: jagged facial features and ironic facial hair. Too frigid and introspective, it seems to me.

Forgive me, perhaps I’m a bit daft, but in what way is his facial hair ironic?

I was wondering exactly that! How is his facial hair ironic?
