They’re a cute pair but I can’t help notice where they are at the horizontal Marc Jacobs shopping mall that’s taken over Bleecker Street in the W. Village. I remember when that was a real neighborhood with a variety of wonderful small businesses, not a vehicle for promoting one showboat, although a talented one. Oh, well. But can be hard for those of us who remember.
Funny to see no one has mentioned gender roles yet! As soon as I looked at this photo the interesting thing that struck me about it is her androgynous look with the unisex Nikes and masculine jacket and pants, and her companion’s women’s coat, handbag and feminine (to me at least) boots. I think it’s a beautiful photo about freedom to wear whatever clothes you like regardless of your gender, exhibited in a stylish couple.
