The cheeky little bows on the shoes add humour to what would otherwise be a smart but unremarkable outfit. Mind you, any clothes, no matter how ordinary, would benefit from being worn by this girl — she’s gorgeous.
She is beautiful and has a smile to melt ice. And she shows great taste in having chosen a shoe with a subtle and elegant detail.
But with all the black is she doing “a look”? Is she coming home from a party or function the previous night? On such a sunny day, with her beauty, she should be wearing color.
Maybe there’s a print dress under that trench? I can dream…no?
Nice trench but the black tights are too much on the set. Also she had to have one more white accent elsewhere. Dark lady…doesn’t match with her mild smile.
She looks great in that tightly-cinched, classic black trench coat and I like her discreet bag. I think the opaque tights work well here to create a narrow full-length line for the look, but I agree with some other commenters that they look a bit severe and unseasonable.
The white-accented shoes (which do not appear to be flats, as some commenters have supposed) act as punctuation – an exclamation point emphasizing that this monochromatic ensemble has been deliberately engineered to draw attention to the dash of whimsical detail at the feet. With plain black shoes this ensemble might have looked like rather chic widow’s weeds!
The lady stands gracefully and has impeccable grooming, as one must to avoid appearing ‘witchy’ in such an austere look. I would prefer to see her hair styled neatly away from the face, to evoke a more long-necked ‘Audrey Hepburn’ stance.
I imagine Miss Hepurn might also have added a jaunty black and white patterned scarf tied at the neck and oversized white sunglasses to relieve the asceticism of all the black.
sart, with all these amazing pics, you should put together a coffee-table book—get it published by taschen or something—divide it up geographically and analyze regional styles…..
All black always looks a bit drab in photos. But I got to admit that in person all black still looks classy, pulled-together, dramatic, all that good stuff. Not in photos though…
I don’t normally like all black outfits – too goth, too boring – but this one really works for me. I guess because it’s very fitted and those lovely shoes…
i think she got it right. i like the black ensamble with the spash of contrast with the shoe. it shows restraint and decisiveness. colors and patterns have their place, but this beautiful young lady would have definitely caught my eye.

La drame!
It’s a bit overboard with the stockings (unless it was a chilly day) but it does draw the eye to those super cute pumps.

I think the all-black route is completely classic. Good job with the pop of white. It personalises the look and makes it unique.

the pose and the coat and the smile are charming, the shoes…not so much. the white on them is distracting and rather skunkish…

That is alot of black especially with her dark coloring. Those stocking are just too heavy, and the white little bows just stand out too much.
