The whole black look on #3 is great on her, however it’s not so much of something people can try to imitate. This girl definitely has her signature style.
Thanks to everyone for identifying the beauty in pic #3. But now that I know she’s a friend of Nicole Richie, and her mom is Danielle Steele; writer of those horribly tacky romance novels, she’s somehow lost her appeal to me… Guilt by association I suppose ;-) Nevertheless, she remains achingly beautiful, with a ferocious sense of style.
BTW, to the poster who claimed she can’t understand why anyone would wear black in the summer? Why would one not wear black in the summer? Black creates a beautiful and strong silhouette, and showcases the wearer– not the clothes, as these 3 images (and the gentleman below) are evidence of that.
I think we need to throw these rules away that one must wear bright colors for summer; one must wear sandals for summer; one must have a tan for the summer, etc. Those that break the conventions of fashion, and succeed in inspiring us– are the ones with a true sense of style.
baggy pants seem to be the style in paris now (or maybe i should say low-crotch, since they come in shorts, cropped pants, and pants). and it’s been so cold this summer! these are great inspirations to stay warm and still be fashionable for an unseasonably cold summer day!
While I really like the pants in the last picture (v. Yohji Yamamoto)I think the proportions of the fabric to skin ratio are a bit off. It is nice to show some skin, but I she should have gone with just a simple pair of heels to avoid the awkwardness of the double lace-up, with both her shoes and pants. There is just too much contrast going on, and I really think that given the complexity of her bottom, the top should have been much more simple. I would have gone with a nylon tank top or so, this is just too too too.

I think Vanessa looks *amazing* — I love her look always — No detectable makeup, no fuss with the hair, and an understated ferocity with her clothes —
I also love how she never fell into the cookie cutter California girl look (she’s a native San Francisco girl) -
– Is she working for Vogue Paris now? I know she did some work in a recent issue……
Anyways, I LOVE the shoes and the pants!

A little too “try hard” for my tastes.
