I like the way she cuffed her jeans and that she belted her coat. I always want to try that but the thought of having to put the belt in my bag each time I take my coat off thwarts me.
The woman, and the photo as a whole, are haunting, in the best possible way. The softness of her hair with the soft touches in the background, and the various shades of grays/blues – what a photograph!
One of my favorite photos. I think someone called this bland. OMG no! Not bland at all. The subject, background, mood, light and composition make for a beautiful photo.
Honestly, this is an outfit I am not fond of. I like most of the pieces, just not together. And I don't like the shoes at all. They look like they're about to snap, sending her sprawling to the pavement.
What I LOVE is the composition of the photo. You are an exception photographer, and the balance in this photo shows why. I love looking at it.
That's a lot of shoe, considering you can see almost all of her feet. What's making them look so enormous?
She's lovely, though. I like the exposed skin in winter, sexy but still warm, you don't lose too much body heat. Same with guys wearing deep vs with jacket and scarf; the little sexiness takes you by surprise. I'd look twice.
not a fan- too many random bits of skin hanging out (ankles, forearms, cleavage) she looks like her clothes shrunk in the wash.
love the cut of the coat, though, but wish she was wearing it with a big tapestry scarf tied loosely to cover up her chest (which i'm sure is FREEZING)
also the shoes look a little clownish for what seems to be an already tall tall TALL girl.
This young woman strike a preety pose. However, as a practical note, she should close the lapels and put the scarf atop them to be warmer. Another practical observation – one of the other commenters wrote that they could see her right instep. That means that the shoes do not fit. This young lady will feel like she has old lady feet by the end of her day. I hope that she did not take that out on whoever her date might be that evening.
This is soooo gorgeous!! Not only is she beautiful and very stylish, but the photograph is amazing. I love the out of focus grey-toned background. Perfection.
this is how a woman (or anyone) should dress. strong. capable. effortless. clean. aware of shapes, silhouette, tone. if she were a pair of eyes, she would be direct.
Interesting proportions. I adore the bits of bare flesh as an accessory to cold weather dressing – the ankles, the forearms, the decolletage…It screams sensuality in a subtle, reserved voice.
I love the people in the background obscured into wintry oblivion and she stands as a striking figurine. The sharp lines of a woolen/cashmere coat (notice the detail stitching on the collar!), knit comfort on top and modern sharp on bottom. LOVE.
her outfit (and shoes) show subtle flashes of skin in an otherwise wrapped up and boring season. perfection! those sculptural shoes are incredible, perfectly teamed with rolled-up skinnies. i love how she's wearing her sleeves pushed up but still with gloves and her oversized coat looks so streamlined with the mannish belt. LOVE.
I do like the coat but I'm not a fan of the rest. The shoes are just to heavy for the look IMHO. Actually from the feet up its all good.
I'm sure its my Mac but on a Mac screen (I have an iMac, Macbook air and Macbook – all render this the same) a lot of the lower light pictures looked under exposed. The darks are so dark I can't see any detail.
For example I can hardly tell the jeans are cuffed until I read it in one of the comments above. Then I magnified it and saw them, but even then I can't make out any detail.
A girly face with the look of a fatal woman! Casually sexy. Her shoes, the belt of the coat the gloves and the scarf beautifully leaving naked parts of her body. The naked parts much perfectly the naked branches of the trees in the background.
I think the manages to blend sophistication and sex appeal in a great way. But the shoes make her feet look grossly oversized compared to the rest of her body – you almost get the impression she is standing on stilts.
I like the picture, and the colours of the pic, and the colours she wears and how she looks, her hair, her face and body, everything is perfect. But the clothes really look uncomfortable and too small for her, the shoes are horrible! I like the jeans, and this whole outfit would look great with flats, and a bit bigger coat..
Are those McQueen shoes? Look very much like a slightly softened version of what we saw on the runway a few months ago. It's a beautiful outfit: simplicity done right.
I'm 99% positive the shoes are Jil Sander, I recognise the shape of the heel (particularly noticeable on her right shoe). Personally, I don't think the heels detract from her look, I think this is a fantastic outfit…very much my personable taste. I would love to emulate this, except maybe on a warmer day.
I love how this has caused such a stir. For me personally, I agree with comments that the look is a bit bland, and I too, hate the shoes.. BUT.. I love that so many other people are loving this. Its why I keep coming back to this site.
My initial thoughts on this look were those of boredom. Jeans, belted jacket, heels…its been done, but take another look. Yes, the pieces she is wearing are nothing groundbreaking, but its the nature of the pieces indivudually and her intent. The shoes add drama, the way the collar parts to expose a segment of skin, along with her exposed wrists and ankles. I think this woman aches for spring, yet translates it through winter apparel instead of wearing shorts with tights underneath.
My internet loads so slowly that when i saw the first half of her i thought it was very boring, but then the shoes kicked in and i was impressed. This is such a smart silhouette and she has defiantly used cuffed jeans to her advantage.
I think it's kind of silly: thick coat, big scarf… and no socks??? the shoes and ankle skin look as if they belonged to a different photo/person/weather. Sorry, I don't like it.
she looks delicate and warm but cold and pretty, and like she wants to look delicate and experience delicacy. makes me think of the singer in Portishead, a younger sister of her…and their bittersweet songs. love this shot for its revelations of emotion
I love the cut of that coat! And the misty atmosphere of the photo. But I think the thickness of those platform shoes makes them too heavy for the outfit.
Love the chic simplicity of this, everything from the scarf to jacket (swoon) to rolled skinnies, to yes, the SHOES. I'm also fascinated by the division of love vs. dislike for this outfit. I loved it as soon as I saw it. Interesting discussions!! Shannan
I have had almost that exact same coat for close to 30 years, and it was my moms before it was mine- I think she got it in Italy. It's been around the word more times than I have- on the backs of my friends and my daughters! Some stuff is just plain always perfect. This is one of them…
Those shoes are simply terrible, which actually seems to be pretty often the case in your shots. Can anyone explain why those monstrosities are popular? They really make the feet appear dispropotionately large…
She is totally put together, but not in an obvious way. I love the touches of bare skin here and there, this really makes her look. The weather is chilly and she doesn't care, she is all about her look and what's going on in her "moment".
Not quite right is it? the elements are all there but the jeans are rolled too high making the shoes look dreadful, The badly tied scarf adds nothing at all to the overall feeling of bland

The shoes are Miu Miu, no?
My initial thoughts on this look were those of boredom. Jeans, belted jacket, heels…its been done, but take another look. Yes, the pieces she is wearing are nothing groundbreaking, but its the nature of the pieces indivudually and her intent. The shoes add drama, the way the collar parts to expose a segment of skin, along with her exposed wrists and ankles. I think this woman aches for spring, yet translates it through winter apparel instead of wearing shorts with tights underneath.

love the collar on the coat, with the scarf, gloves, belt…
but the shoes are an entity unto themselves.
would love to see them kicked off and replaced with a cool pair of flats. it'd be a relief, like a nice long exhale…

I have had almost that exact same coat for close to 30 years, and it was my moms before it was mine- I think she got it in Italy. It's been around the word more times than I have- on the backs of my friends and my daughters! Some stuff is just plain always perfect. This is one of them…

She is totally put together, but not in an obvious way. I love the touches of bare skin here and there, this really makes her look. The weather is chilly and she doesn't care, she is all about her look and what's going on in her "moment".
