Love this shot! – the cigarette, his expression and pose, it’s great! i love the piled on proportions with different colours but all the same tone. The jacket is cool, it looks like a Barbour but i’ve never seen one cut that short. Maybe he had it tailored? Gives me an idea for one of the assortment of aged waxed jackets i’ve got piled up in the UK…
I used to have such a nice Barbour that I got for christmas one year. Too bad that I was 10, and have since outgrown it. At the time i actually think i hated it.
rarely imagined barbour and chic would end up in the same line but the youthfulness of this man and his ensemble really deserves the title. his jumbo neck muffler scraf is quite awesome.
For some reason, this makes me think of the music “videos” by Jacques Brel (who was Belgian, lest anybody think he was French!). They were shot in the 1950s and 1960s, very artsy, with dancers who look like this gentleman. A timeless look.
The short Barbour is for fly-fishing (note the D-ring on the right shoulder – for hanging gear from). The short torso keeps the bottom hem from getting wet when you’re wading in a stream. Don’t think this chappy’s been out on the Big Two-Hearted any time recently, but he has a vibe. Is that A sweater and scarf or all 1 garment?
The layering is one highlight of this shot – very delicate mix of materials to give black-on-black a new twist. I’m thinking if same-color layering only works with black?
This is a Barbour Fly Fishing Jacket – it is so short to avoid getting it wet whilst you are standing in the water. It is no more in production but browsing ebay.co.uk you should easily find a good used one. (A Barbour should of course always look like you inherited it ;) )
like the idea. Works well on a man of this frame. Also, he has a great sense of proportion and knows how to use it to create a striking look…..that said, I don’t think I would ever wear this! haha.
this is a little more than amazing! his expression and proportions of the garments are just right. hes got this cheeky look to compliment his cheeky style.
Something not quite nice about how his sweater billows over his pants. I think the jacket is nice though and would look good with something slimmer underneath.

I wonder if, in some box, up in the attic, I could find the barbour I used to wear at school…

Scott,
Can we see some shoes? There is more to a man than just his torso.

I love this pic, Sart!! I love jackets which are slightly small (especially a size/two smaller leather jackets like the Ramones sported).
Barbour jackets/coats seem to be very popular these days. I especially love the quilted ones.
Inspiring! Thanks!

That takes absolutely all the practicality out of a Barbour. Is he wearing a small child’s jacket?

Does anybody know, which version of Barbour jackets this one is ? Its looks too perfect be self tailored. The short version looks very contemporary.

Please forgive my lack of style savvy, but what on earth is a “barbour jacket”? Is that a brand name?

Love the short barbour. I remember when everyone in Italy wore the longer one..such a huge trend in the 90s:-)
