This is a great casual look with nice proportions. I think the silhouette would be slightly better without the cargo pockets, and a pair of socks could actually add something to this look, but he looks good.
I’ve not been a huge fan of pants with cargo-esque pockets, for a while. But, I really like the color of the pants. They almost look two-toned, like silk – that could just be the result of the afternoon sun and a contrasty photo. Great cardigan, too. The desert boots have a sort of funny shape to them – his feet look long – but it’s not bad, it’s just interesting.
Great outfit. The shoes are a few sizes too large- few sizes. Look at where his little toe makes an indentation on the suede!!! This young man found a great pair of boots at a good price and bought them. I have been known to do that :). I also like the frames and how they complement the shape of his face. effortless… I do adore this mix of sophisticated laid back style and the right pieces of the moment: those old looking Clarcks … I am in love with…the shoes I meant The Brigade de la mode likes it… Bravo ragazzo
Well – Downunderboy has been up in China for a week and just look at what I have missed out on!!! My God – there has been a fashion whirlwind while I have been out of action. I am placing this collective comment here due to the fact that there is just SO much I have missed. Scott – all the images of the past week are gorgeous. God I have missed you!
I find it bafflingly that some are saying, “Hipsters, scenesters, hypebeasts have nothing on this man– a true individual”. Really? In my opinion, this look came straight out of a magazine or store catalog.
Responses to various posts without citing them specifically: His feet don’t look huge to me nor does he look too short for the outfit. I see nothing androgynous about this at all and why would it not be for young guys- is it for older guys? The glasses do compliment his face- that’s part of the overall proportions, which I think work. I think one could look confident wearing just about anything in NYC and I’m tired of comments about the weather- he looks comfortable enough! Thank you.
Am I the only person who feels that “short” is over? I mean, done.
In the early summer, I happened to find myself face-to-face with T. Brown. We were both trying to get a cab on Central Park West.
His mufti: semi-demi Little Lord Fontleroy. Suddenly I saw how very, very iffy his look was for anyone out of their twenties. And even for the young, one had to be very, very careful, especially if tall.
So I say, bye-bye, short. You been a good ol’ wagon (sorta) but you done broke down.
You are a funny man Sart. You saw all the hoo haa of negative comments yesterday from the short length pants guy, so you wanted to show those people a similar short length pant that looks more “conventional”, so that they can all be swayed, the way that they indeed have been. You’re a genius. And this guy does look quite wonderful. The shorter length pant does belong on Main Street after all.
Maybe it’s just me but the overall look is totally disconnected. Waist down he appears casual and sock free in designer surplus. But above the waist is a whole other direction with a buttoned up satin shirt and a tight engineered chest cable cardigan. With sleeves pushed bracelet length and celebrity frames.
“In my opinion, this look came straight out of a magazine or store catalog.“
You got me– I had no idea he was dressed from head-to-toe in Phillip Lim. Not being a fan of said designer, my first impression of the individual was his look was part vintage, part army surplus mixed with some elements of luxury and formality.
not bad, I mean its not THE greaaaaaatest style but I have to say i really like the pants and sunglasses… also I live in New York and its freeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing right now, how does he manage to put on these close in the end of november! where are the parkas and other coats plz, its getting cold dear satorialist and we want to see what the fashionable people ( the ones that are afraid of the cold) will be wearing!!!!
I would like to ask, what’s the name of this type of shoes? It’s not just suede shoes, because among of it no every pair of shoes have the same number of holes etc. Somebody knows, by the chance? Regards,
