One of the most fascinating aspects of the modern world of fashion is how designers try to bring something new two to four times a year (if not more) and on the other hand, the public use so-called 'timeless' pieces, or pieces from different eras, then mix-&-match them. To a large extent, this is where street-style bloggers have a role to play: they can show which of the old pieces are seen again and can start new trends.
One of the best reasons to buy an iPad is the ability to enlarge your photos with a pinch of my fingers and really take in all of the details. I love how the first girl has matched the Twilly in her hair with her nail polish (or vice versa!) and her well-loved LV bag just adds to the '70's vibe. She's proof you don't need to dress expensively to dress well, especially in your '20's!
My favorite thing about both of these looks are the splashes of color: the orange scarf on the first girl and the pink panel-ed bag on the second. They make the looks modern and fresh. So cute!
LOVE the overalls dress on the girl in the second image! ..and love her tattoo as well! such a playful look! anyone know who stocks an overall dress like this? xx
The innocence of that first lot of denim for the girls of the 70s–it was distinctive in colour and feel and there was something magical and liberating about it.
I love these denim outfits, I remember travelling through Europe in my denim dress in the '70's and trying to wash it out in the tub at night. (Not advisable. I love the tattoo on her shoulder with the off the shoulder thin sweater underneath the dress. That's cool.
Just when you thought the 70's had died (again). In truth i think the 70's were a super-sexualized period and make good fashion inspiration. I hope people never stop dressing like this (glad to see 70's throwbacks are going strong for a 3rd decade). Once again good observations Scott!
So its true- denim is the new black! Haha I adore these looks. And the scarf-in the-hair look? Might try one day. Very earthy/fresh and distinctive all at the same time. Whatever that means… (:
Would love to know where to buy a dress like the one in the second picture. Anyone know? (I think there was a lovely Stella McCartney one with buttons down the front but I'm hoping for something a little less pricey!)
What's funny is my favorite part of the outfits is not the denim but the choice of shirts to go with them. In the first photo I love that turtle-neck, it somehow gives off a vintage yet modern at the same time. In the second photo, how sexy is that off the shoulder sweater under that jumper?! Amazing!
I love the girl at the top – she is gorgeous. But those knees…….!! I think that knees have to be perfect before they are shown off, and they just can't be blotchy or saggy or bumpy or ugly in any way. I know that if you'd taken her picture sitting down, I'd never have made these comments, as it's probably just the way she's standing that makes her knees look ugly. Otherwise she's exquisite, with the scarf in her hair and the nails and lipstick pulling it all together with the denim.
"Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward 1979..that would be the PERFECT soundtrack if they were walking the runway! Love the denim and the looks are A++++mazing and wickedly cool! kisses xoThe Beckerman Girls
thank you for saying this is 70's! i was so annoyed this summer to see lines like Stella McCartney's and others with all of the denim and calling it new. not only was it not new, it was unattractive, and a far cry from creativity or innovation.
I love the Denim on this girls!!! I met some girls a while back, who were wearing Denim and all sort of scarves, colors, they were intriguing and mysterious!
