Fashion week has really taken off in Milan. Â The street looks are great and the runways are inspiring.
Marni, Ferragamo, and Jil Sander were all strong collections. Â I promise to lock myself in my hotel room tonight to work on those images.
The men’s shot I will post later today is also really great, one of my favorites from Milan in a while.

I love her! She is so quaint and pretty! My favourite detail is the polka dot socks; I think every outfit should have an element of surprise, and that’s it on her.

In my opinion, this outfit is a total failure…there’s no concordance between the print of the dress and the one of the socks, mixed with blue sandals…

It’s a lovely picture, but I just don’t like this outfit. She’s swimming in the dress and the socks/shoes, though they’d be great with another outfit, really don’t work here.

To me, the socks are a blatant refusal.
Yes, a refusal as in:
Why conform to the expectations of fashion society?
Why not wear socks?
Now, the collar, on the other hand, gives me pause because it kind of reminds me of Baptist Sunday School in a Midwestern -American town, prim and proper.
Still, there is something about the totality of this look and the vintage appeal it offers, that works on many levels.
And the novelty of the sunglasses, coupled with the sheen of the clutch bag pulls this look together.
Kudos!

How gloriously odd! Another of those “it so doesn’t work that it works” looks. The dress is also quite lovely in & of itself–the print is great and the neo-monastic cut is graceful.
