My favorite purchase from the Korea trip: raglan-sleeve, puff-lined, green-heathered wool coat from ts(s) bought at the great new shop in Seoul called Beaker.

The 3 F's
November 27, 2012 at 4:38 pm
Agreed. Perhaps it is my voyeuristic nature, but I always love to see the camera turned on the photographer. It takes a certain type of person to always be on the dark side of the picture, so to see you in full light is lovely.

What an extremely wise observation, 3F’s. Yes, the photographer, the director, the showrunner…these types often revel in their anonymity. Its an interesting thing to see them in the limelight.
I have always wanted to ask; What are the 3 F’s? Fashion, Fun and Fundamental goodness?

Love it… and great shoes!… but no socks? The no-socks look is forgivable in warmish weather, but it seems incongruently silly (pretentious?) when it’s cold enough outside to wear a wool coat, scarf, and gloves. Just sayin’. Otherwise, I like the outfit a lot.

I agree, this is just silly. Never mind the fact that the no-socks-look is starting to get really old – it’s borderline ridiculous when it’s actually cold out. And anyway, men of style should dare to have some fun with socks, they’re not all black and bland.

That’s a nice coat. I have a donegal tweed coat that looks a bit like a mackintosh, collar and cuffs wise, but is currently too long (a couple of inches below my knee). I’m getting it taken up but am agonising over the length. I’m thinking an inch or two over the knee – what’s your take on coat length?

I love your new coat and I’m obsessed with your bike…I need to get one of this ASAP.
PS: Sometimes I don’t wear socks during autumn or winter, too (though probably it is warmer in Costa Rica than in New York)…so don’t pay attention to what these people are saying : )

Dear Scott, what an excellent find! Perfect length-long enough to keep warm and short enough for full movement without unnecessary weight; great spotting and looks so comfortable.

I wonder who took this picture and if it was posed or not ?
I like this outfit a lot and would wear a feminine version of the coat.
Scott, as for the “socks debate” : I’m guessing your are wearing low socks, more comfortable in leather shoes.
Anyway…….you do what you want !

By no means am I coming to Scott’s rescue on the Socks Debate or the “Rolling of the Cuff” Debate, but I always find these to be such polar topics. I’m wondering when rolling up the cuff of your jean became a topic related to age? I’m also wondering if the people who shun sockless (or hidden socks), ankle-showing looks during colder months have actually tried it themselves?
I will admit, when it gets frigid outside in NYC, you really have no choice but to put socks on, the thicker the better. But this time of year in NYC the temperature is fluctuating between 35-50 degrees Fahrenheit, so from personal experience I can assure you, it isn’t the craziest thing to pull off. I’ve always been way more concerned with keeping my core warm anyways. Now, if this picture was taken in Chicago…it would be a totally different story!

Ah Scott,I love seeing you in front of the camera! As for my favorite part of this great photograph? The coat is truly fabulous, the color one of my staples, But my most favorite, what made me giggle??? No socks!!! I say YES to no socks!!! I have a drawer full of them, from Rusted Moon and Good Earth, but I still won’t wear unless I absolutely have to! Indiana winters or not. :-)
