The good thing about having a small artistic community is that everyone can hang out together. That’s what it felt like at The Neighbourgoods Market, a Saturday-only pop-up market/clubhouse in the center of downtown Johannesburg. Sam and I were very impressed by how natural, cool and laid back the vibe was at the market. The food booths were incredible and the little clothing shops were perfect for local artists and designers to showcase their goods to the right crowd. We would’ve been happy to hang out there all day. Â ![]()

This place looks absolutely awesome! We need more places like this in London. At the moment it seems that markets are primarily targeting vintage and lower-priced fashion. But what we need is a place for designers and indie labels to show their stuff, and for indie online stores like us to be able to have an offline presence. Outfit-wise, this is again pretty remarkable.

God, Georgia sounds really lovely right about now…But, have you noticed – the fashion today is doing a flashback to the 80′s and 90′s with some 2012 mixed in (that would be the iPad). I dressed up as a fly girl for Halloween and realized that it looked like something I would wear now. Are there any new ideas out there? Great pic’s Sartorialist – per the usual.
Love!

Really loving these pictures, as I am a very proud South African. I especially like the fact that they are giving another perspective to a city which is often clouded by a very different image. I would however like to see more pictures that are reflective of other cultures in South Africa, as we really are such a great electic hodegpodge of different cultures – that is a true representation of South Africa, a rainbow nation. x

Can’t help myself from saying that the left girl in the 1st picture looks stunning.
The coral scarf around her head is drapped so nonchalant but beautifull and looks amazing with here skin colour.
Together with her earrings and her shirt it’s just perfect.
The girl in the second pic. looks really nice in those light jeans and ‘whites’ .
kind regards!
